Tactics and principles of fighting in kung fu. Fundamentals of Shaolin Kung Fu Art Fundamentals of Shaolin Style

It is believed that mastering calligraphy is quite
difficult, but this only means that art
chinese writing should grow in a person for many
years. We say It's quite difficult about tasks that
require efforts and in the implementation of which we
we sweat, grunt and hoot. Meanwhile, the whole difficulty of Chinese
writing is to provide a brush option
to write by itself.

The topic of martial arts is not so far from astrology as
may seem at first glance. Science is just as cramped here
intertwined with art, knowledge - with experience and intuition. Such
the same bewildering abundance of schools and directions. Mastery
side by side with quackery. Like astrology, a martial art
was banned in our country for a long time, so it
enthusiasts were placed under the same conditions
information vacuum. And finally, the most important thing: kung fu, like
astrology is primarily a path of self-knowledge that does not have
end.
My interlocutor asked not to mention his name in the article. is he
was born in a small city of the near abroad, began to study
back in the pre-perestroika years, now he teaches (outside the
official sections and clubs).
- Before starting a conversation, I would like to deal with
terms. Kung fu, u-shu, martial arts, hand-to-hand combat, karate -
are these synonyms for you?
- All these terms can be roughly divided into two categories: kung fu and
woo. Wu shu literally translates to martial arts. This includes
martial arts, hand-to-hand combat, karate, work with weapons. Kung Fu is
rather, the level of ambition. Outwardly, it may be no different from anyone
of fighting styles. Or maybe it has nothing to do with them at all,
manifesting itself in, say, cooking, embroidery, carpentry or something
friend. Feng Jizai in his work The Magic Whip talked about
painter. He entered the room, dressed in a black dress coat, took two brushes and
began to rotate them madly. The result: a perfectly white room and perfect
black tailcoat. Such a person would make an ideal fighter. Because
doing his seemingly simple business, he developed in himself
the highest level of concentration. Kung Fu is the very highest
concentration level. Kung Fu is the same level of concentration
turning inward. Thus, as a term, this word means
internal orientation.
My teacher gave this example. A woodcarver carves a spoon.
The next day - a fork. Another day - a cup. After a year he cuts
Buddha. This is the wu-shu method: improving the technique. In kung fu another
approach: today - a spoon, tomorrow - a spoon, in a year - a spoon. But let someone
someday he will try to say that after that you cannot cut out the Buddha! Cutter,
walking along the second path, gradually feels the nuances more and more subtly: pressure
incisor, the resistance of the tree, when it is necessary to hold the breath ...
affairs, he studies himself, improves himself. There is such a concept of Tao-fat
(this is a Vietnamese term) - The Way of Buddha (unlike Buddhism - religion).
The criteria for Dao-fat in martial art are a minimum of external technique.
Remember in the movie Seven Samurai there was a fighter with a scar on his face? Having said:
I'll go practice, he began to stomp in slippery clay, then one
moved into a fighting stance and pulled out a sword. And so I repeated it time after
at once. Investing a thousand qualities in one single movement.
Wu-shu is often called a self-improvement system. But in
most external systems equate skill with perfect
possession of technology. This is not enough. After all, the coward who goes
practice karate and after a while gets a black belt, becomes ...
coward with a black belt. He will cease to be afraid only of those who have not grown to
black belt.
On the other hand, a person practicing external style with great
the amount of kata may be prone to some experimentation,
studying oneself without any connection with the informational load of this style. AT
in this case, despite all his many knowledge, he
focuses on the study of subtle, essential qualities, taking in
as a base, one single blow - like the samurai in the film. Besides,
almost in all styles there are internal aspects, consisting in
primarily from breathing work. Since breath is a binder
link between internal and external.
But there are also canonical interior styles. For example, Chinese
Tai-tzu-chuan, Bagua, Xing-I. These styles, focusing on the inner
development, obviously have few external movements. The most capacious form in
Tai Tzu has one hundred and eight movements.
- ... Is it called a little?
- I can say that the first five training kata in karate have already
more movement. If we take traditional Chinese systems, then
there are tens and hundreds of thousands.
- It is true that kung fu can be practiced in deep
old age?
- Another distinguishing feature of kung fu: a person does not work on
the development of something that sooner or later will take age. And the splits, high
kicks are all signs of an external approach. Woo little
different from sports. Perhaps culture.
- But surely there is a lower age limit?
- I think, yes. I would say the age is 13-14 years old. The child grows and in strength
of its nature is oriented towards the external, cognizes the external. Just for
to survive. You can help your child prepare the body for exercise. For instance,
through swimming lessons, gymnastics, the same wushu.
Kung fu classes include a small, invisible to anyone
internal work to eradicate a number of habits, stereotypes. In fact
business, you can’t even put the question like that: Do you practice kung fu? Kung Fu
is not limited to the training hall. This is also how a person is
behaves in everyday life. It is either there or it is not, it cannot be dealt with. Not
no one says: I practice food. Over time, of course, the meaning of the term
distorted and in the mass consciousness was identified with wushu. Mainly,
due to a purely Western view of this phenomenon, various
movies.
- So, kung fu is work on yourself, which can be
is completely unrelated to throws, grabs, strikes. But anyway,
You and your partners and students are not at all involved
cooking ...
- It can be called like this: kung fu martial arts. Exploring yourself
by the method of martial arts. The very fact of a fight, a situation in which you can
to hurt, makes you be extremely careful. Duel
hardens internal qualities. It's easy to be calm when nobody else is you
not annoying, kind - when not attacked. Kung Fu teaches peace
performance in any situation. Some people believe that any
practicing martial arts leads to the Spirit. Unfortunately, too much of
what I saw, in fact, resulted only in rudeness and anger. Whereas
real kung fu is the key that helps to penetrate deeper, to the origins,
giving an understanding of beauty on a new level - simple, everyday beauty.
- It's not entirely clear what the understanding of beauty has to do with it. Like this
turns out?
- Classes develop a culture of movement (not to be confused with physical
working off). The culture of body movement is closely related to the more subtle
structures of a human being. Studying them, the student opens up for
the whole world and ceases to feel like just a physical body. Such
he begins to see and feel the fine organization in all manifestations
nature.
Again, the level of claims decides everything. Once at the executioner holding
a chamomile in his hand, they asked: What are you wondering about?
i cut it off, ”he replied.
- In movements that look like a dance when performed
individually, there is actually a murderous power hidden. Smoothly
an exposed palm can in practice mean a blow to the area
enemy liver. What happens to the beauty we're only talking about
what was said, should a person use martial techniques in
street situation? Or is it no longer kung fu, but hand-to-hand combat?
- If a person has kung fu, he cannot forget it at home or
get out of your pocket. Let's say he got into a situation where he was about to
the will is destroyed. Man's task is to escape from destruction. Paths
care are different. He can, for example, run away - unless, of course,
constrained by certain conventions. It can defend itself. Attack.
Finally, turn the other cheek (if you have the strength to do so). But in any
case, will not do more than is necessary in order to escape from destruction. Then
is, behaves according to the situation. For example, I do not consider
it is necessary to jump with two feet on the head of the defeated enemy,
who already doesn't want to get up.
- In schools of internal orientation, where the task is not
victory over the enemy is set, a lot of things are practiced that
at first glance, it looks not very practical from the point of view
streets. And at first even elements may be missing
duel. On the other hand, there are styles that are closer to sports.
There sparring is practiced from the very beginning. Does this mean
less adaptability of internal directions to rough
reality? Maybe in a number of situations it is appropriate
aggression, reciprocal rudeness - after all, is this nature?
- Again, everything is decided by the level of claims. If the motive for the lessons
serves as a desire to quickly learn self-defense, it makes sense to do
boxing. Or fire a gun. And deeper development requires a long
time and can not be immediately implemented in practice. By the way, on
East within the framework of many serious schools, the length of which is more than thirty
years, there are sub-styles designed solely to protect
schools. Receptions are formed in a very short time and represent
a set of relatively simple technical and tactical skills. If needed
to fight, they fight.
As for sparring, frankly, it's easier for me to fight than
spar in the sports arena. There are too many restrictions in sparring:
not to beat there, this is impossible ... Far-fetched rules, an artificial situation ...
- But there are so-called fights without rules - contact
fights in which representatives of any
schools.
- Firstly, real masters do not participate in such shows. Secondly,
in fact, there are rules too.
- For instance?
- Do not hit in the eyes, groin, throat, bite and much more. AT
as a result, it all comes down to the fact that brute physical strength wins. After all
excluded many elements that will allow you to cope with a more powerful,
than you, a rival. Our teacher wouldn't let us study at all
fights, despite the fact that when we met, many of us already
had a solid sparring experience behind them.
- You have been studying for more than fifteen years. What were
initial motives and views? Have they changed since then? AND
who is the teacher you mentioned more than once?
- I would not like to speak for more than fifteen years. Better to say:
much less than twenty years old - this better matches my
attitude.
I can't say that the main motive when I first went
study, it was the acquisition of combat skills (although then I could
seem). Rather, it was a protest against the prohibitions of the authorities and doctors. At that
for a time I was very inflexible and stubborn. And couldn't agree with any
restrictions on freedom of choice. In my youth, I suffered a serious illness.
Doctors prophesied that non-compliance with bed rest, and subsequently -
rest - threatens the most serious consequences, up to lethal
the outcome. And I took and began to practice karate. In the unofficial section.
There were enough troubles with the authorities, they had to hide, run away. Our
classes were not much like that contactless karate, which during
some time was allowed in the USSR. ... The parents were shocked. And I
felt much better. Then one of the doctors said: By this you
saved myself. And I recommend that you continue to engage in any
oriental martial arts - be it karate or something else ... It's me
i tell you as a person. As a doctor, I have no right ...
- Probably, your studies at that time were far from the idea of \u200b\u200bkung
fu - in the sense in which you just defined it?
- Certainly far away. At first I got a taste for classes, but over time
i began to feel dissatisfaction with the style I am doing. Probably,
it was again my stubbornness. I didn’t believe that blunt stretching and
building up physical strength, even if in special exercises
karate, give answers to all questions. My instructor thought the same way. is he
was a former track and field athlete and had an occupational injury (knee). AT
due to this, he was obsessed with finding soft styles. With absence
information, everything related to soft, internal styles was fanned
a halo of secrets and rumors. Then he began to independently develop some
soft principles - quality and tactical. My older friends and myself with
delight became the basis for his experiments. Terms of information
vacuum proved to be very timely and fruitful for us. it
there was a time of constant and long-term sparring. We have met many
masters. And, not finding answers from them, they processed the received from them
information in its own way. During the search, we have accumulated considerable technical
luggage and understood the limitations of any technique. A parallel can be drawn with
music. We wanted to comprehend and feel the musical laws,
improvise and, of course, write music ourselves. Obviously, in order
to learn this, you need a sound extraction tool. Here we are
learned to play the guitar, then the flute, then the piano. Every new
the specialist, before talking to us about music, demanded that we
thoroughly studied his instrument. But things, as a rule, did not go further.
We were offended, believing that we were not given any secrets. Now i
i understand that many of these people themselves could not separate the science of music from
techniques for playing your instrument.
And so, in the mid-eighties, we accidentally met one
vietnamese. Learning that we are doing kung fu (at that time we tried
learn Tai Chi Chuan), he expressed a desire to study with us. What and
has been doing under the guidance of our leader for at least three months.
At first glance, this was a person who was very far from martial arts, to that
with a very unprepared body. He could not reach the floor with his fingers.
straight legs.
Once we were sitting in the kitchen. Our instructor described in detail
subtle aspects of working in Tai Chi Chuan. Tearing his bored eyes from the window
the Vietnamese asked: Can you show how they beat in Tai Chi Chuan? -
I can, - our leader answered. And he demonstrated a blow. What is our new
a friend asked to hit with full force. He hit ... and fell. Nobody understood
why. We sat with our mouths open. And so our new friend began to teach
something that bears little resemblance to our understanding of kung fu.
For a long time we could not understand the essence of the method. Hours had to be done
exercises that do not give any result at first glance. But still,
feeling that our previous search has come to a standstill and ready to leave
the sphere of applied wu-shu, we continued to move in this, fundamentally
new direction for us. The language barrier created great difficulties.
Our master barely spoke Russian. However, this is what helped us better.
understand kung fu - through the hands.
- And yet, what was it and where did it come from? May be,
a kind of Vietnamese Wing Chun style already known in Moscow?
- It was a purely family direction, the name of which is not enough
will say ... No, it cannot be called Vietnamese Wing Chun. It has extremely little
technology. However, asking the teacher questions related to our
previous practices, we got very simple and at the same time
comprehensive answers. Most often, again, through the hands. Surprised by him
awareness, we asked if there was such a thing in his school. He answered
negatively. And all the time he oriented us with the concept of the root. Roots
the trees are not conspicuous. But they contain information about each
fluttering leaf. The crown of a tree, the leaves can be compared to a huge
the number of external styles. And the roots are the very essence to which we
before they could not get to the bottom.
And after a while - quite a short time - we felt
the result of our lessons ...
- ... you have felt the notorious qi - internal
energy?
- No, it's not about her, but about understanding where power comes from, how her
transmit and how to receive. To come to qi, you must first master this
called soft power. From childhood, we develop the habit of tense
effort. This is often unjustified and irrational. We strain our legs
raising a cup of tea. Or shoulder muscles when brushing your teeth. Among other things,
this is due to an uncomfortable posture. In any job, a person usually uses
much more strength than needed. Often a physically strong person cannot
transfer power. Trying, for example, to hit or throw an object.
Therefore, it's not just about the muscles. In order to develop soft
strength, you must give up muscle strength. The muscle shouldn't get in the way.
For this, special exercises are done in which a person learns
relax with effort. He is placed in such conditions under which he
nothing remains but to transfer power exclusively through the support
locomotor apparatus, system of joints and tendons. Crane power
is in the counterweight and in the block system. A person has a role like this
counterweight plays the correct position and support in the legs. And the function of the blocks
perform shoulders and hips ... There is simply an opinion that soft power is
something fluffy, amorphous. In fact, this may look like one of
aspects of soft power - lightness. It is sometimes referred to as hidden power.
But do not confuse softness with relaxation.
Only after the development of soft power can one speak of qi. Voltage,
interfering with softness, interfering with qi. However, we do not refuse
physical strength. We just don't let her steal the functions of the support
locomotor system and tendons, which occurs when unnecessary
stress. A person, developing soft power, can use the total
energy of the body. Only then can you work with qi.
- You spoke about the ingrained habit of spending on any
deal more force than necessary. Do you somehow struggle with this
a habit?
- Certainly. In general, strength is studied in three aspects: quality,
quantity and direction.
- Is what your teacher taught is related to any of
mentioned earlier in our conversation canonical internal
directions?
- If we compare the source of power with the river, we can say that the river can
show strength in three ways. First: a wave On such a manifestation of power
focuses on Tai Chi Chuan. Second: whirlpools of any scale -
Bagua. Third: the stream - whether it be flat or a falling waterfall.
The stream, if it does not demolish obstacles, always finds a loophole. This approach
matches the Shin-I style. Continuing this metaphor, we can say that we
we study the water itself: its density, composition and capabilities. This allows you to understand
all three types of power delivery. To study this, we take any technique with
taking into account the rationality of the time spent on its development. For example, Wing Chun -
to study the third aspect of power delivery. The science of strength is spice
with which you can season any dish. Not everyone will appreciate the taste of themselves
spices. Even in the aforementioned canonical schools, the very force begins
study after lengthy practice of external forms. That is, they season
the dish at the very end.
- Hmmm, you and your friends were very lucky in your time. Now in
every city has a ton of sections and it seems that most of them
- not at all ...
- Here it is more likely not about luck, but about readiness. Not everyone is ready
do exercises that do not give immediate results. People
are guided by the criteria of external dynamics, and we have a minimum of it. AND
in general, if a person is ready, then even doing simple boxing, he will find
indications for development.
By the way, kung fu tied to martial art is not a panacea. Very
there is a great temptation to focus on the combat aspect, which does not allow developing
kung fu to the fullest. It's no coincidence that traditional martial arts
are inextricably linked with spiritual movements: Buddhism, Taoism and others.
The revival of Slavic martial arts, as you know, is closely associated with
the revival of paganism - otherwise it would be just a sport. I would say
that martial art is the initial stage of the spiritual path. Unfortunately in
in most cases, this primordial connection today manifests itself as
commitment to exotic cults.
- You want to say that a person who wants to practice kung
phew, must certainly join any religious
movement? How, then, are Christians to be?
- It's not about religion, but about the essence. Is a person able to discern the grain
will he have the strength to work with it? The world knew many teachers who
destroyed dogmas and indicated the essence. Often they were persecuted or at best
case are not understood. In Christianity there are aspects of inner work like
or substitutes for martial arts. By the way, in one
i saw a documentary about the life of a Christian monastery,
how monks do a pair exercise like ours.
- What helped you? Are you a follower of any
or religion and doctrine?
- I found many answers to my questions in the books of Practical
worldview.
- Who is the author?
- The author does not give his name. And there are good reasons for this.
An illusion society abhors truth-telling.
- Have you met in person?
- No, I believe that more depends on the readiness of the student than on
teacher level. You know, everyone likes to have a teacher like Jesus
Christ, but few people think about whether he can withstand the burden of the apostle. AT
currently contact with such a person is possible in the form
cooperation. But for this you need to be ready to endure
the mode of operation offered to you. Otherwise, you will become just a burden.

On the eve of the twentieth century that passed away from us, the greatest minds of the West turned to the cultural and philosophical heritage of the East. Suddenly, under the colorful tinsel of oriental exoticism (art, everyday life, costume, rituals, poetry, etc.), the thinkers of Russia, Germany and other European countries saw a different worldview, a different assessment of philosophical categories, a different understanding of man in the Universe and the Universe in man. Leo Tolstoy, K.G. Jung, E. Blavatsky, Roerichs, R. Steiner and many others began to seriously study the philosophical heritage of India, China, and Japan. Then the result of this brainstorming was the emergence of new philosophical, natural science and mystical teachings. The stormy twentieth century has passed ... Can we say that we have come closer to understanding the mysterious, like the paradoxes of Ch'an Buddhism, and clear, like sunlight, the truths of Eastern wisdom?

The unconditional achievement of Western thought over the past century was the realization of a different relationship between Teaching and Practice in the Eastern cultural tradition. The philosophical postulates of the East are not tested by practice, and philosophy is practice itself. Wisdom is understood not as the ability to analyze objective reality, but as an intuitive-integral, conscious-bodily comprehension of life at a given moment in time. Thus, one cannot comprehend the cultural and philosophical tradition of China only by reading scientific treatises, without one's own practice in the field of wushu, painting, calligraphy or poetry. For such a practical comprehension of philosophy, books are not enough, you need a live transmission of information and an assessment of the results achieved.

The cultural and philosophical tradition of China is based on three religions: Confucianism, Taoism, and Chan Buddhism. All of them were conceived by their founders not as religions, but as a complex of philosophical ideas about man and the world, as well as a set of behavioral norms. Despite even later ritual and ceremonial layers on the part of the followers of these teachings (and all three "religions" arose around the 5th century BC), we cannot in the strict Western sense attribute them to beliefs. Rather, it is a complex of unshakable ideas about the world and man, permeating all spheres of Chinese life for many generations.

For a person born outside the Chinese cultural tradition, special daily practice is needed to comprehend the foundations of the philosophy and culture of China, obvious to any inhabitant of this country. The most accessible for all those interested is the practice of kung fu (wushu) - the real embodiment of Taoism, Ch'an Buddhism and Confucianism. The biggest problem of the verbal description of Chinese cultural traditions is the absence of corresponding concepts in European languages, the impossibility of direct translation. However, this vagueness of terminology indicates that we are dealing with a practice that is holistic in nature, but unknown to modern civilization, where a single spiritual and physical improvement does not fall into categories known to us.

Tao and Te, the key concepts of Taoism and the key concepts of martial arts, do not have a direct translation into Russian. They are conventionally defined as “the way” and “virtue (perfection)”. The practice of kung fu is the hourly awareness of one's own path, following that path, and cultivating virtue. This definition reveals the fundamental difference between kung fu and a similar Western tradition, where the main content of the martial art is the desire to defeat the enemy at any cost. For a kung fu master (a term close to the concept of wushu, literally means “skill, spiritual improvement, selfless devotion, highest achievements”), a duel is not an end in itself. A true master wins without acting, but enters into battle only to restore harmony in the world when the balance is disturbed. What matters is not frozen entities, but transformations of entities, events. Possession of your own inner state, deep awareness of the real continuously changing momentary situation and the ability to influence this situation if necessary - this is the true mastery of kung fu, this is the true wisdom of a philosopher.

Wushu practice has different directions. Anyone from six years old to a ripe old age can practice single formal exercises of the "internal" styles of wushu: Xinyi Quan, Taiji Quan, Baguazhang. During daily practice of dynamic meditation, the student comprehends with all his body and mind the deep truths recorded in the great “Book of Changes” (“I Ching”) and other ancient Chinese treatises. Each of the formal movements, in addition to the philosophical meaning, has an effective combat application. And there are styles that offer their students pair work, a duel, as the main means of self-improvement, comprehending oneself and following one's own path. Such styles include Wing Chun, Shaolin styles, etc. A great advantage of martial arts is the reality and objectivity of assessing the achievements of students. In a battle with an opponent, the correctness of the disciple's adherence to his Tao and Te is revealed.

A practitioner of martial arts should in no case perceive real combat, where there is no place for the concepts of humanism and pity, as a model of all life. This is a deep misunderstanding of the essence of wushu (kung fu). Fight, as the need to restore balance to the world, is a reflection of an extreme life situation. He who knows how to keep his cool in battle will always be able to accept and correctly assess any life situation with a calm consciousness and respond appropriately to it.

Chinese traditions are passed on from teacher to student. Without understanding the deep Confucian roots of discipleship, one cannot fully comprehend Chinese philosophy. Filial duty, as the main content of life and great joy, filial duty, extended to all spheres of the country's social life - this is the core concept of the teachings of Confucius. People are not equal in nature, but they should experience it without regret. This does not fit well with the concepts of human rights we are used to, it is just a different model of the world.

How are philosophical postulates connected with the direct practice of martial art?

In the process of learning kung fu, four components can be conditionally distinguished. At the first stage, the student is immersed in the construction of his body, mastering the ability to use it. The second component includes the study of complexes of formal exercises. The third part of the learning process is to develop the ability to interact with a partner, feel his movements and intentions, and use the opponent's movements for their own purposes. The fourth component is mastering the art of combat.

The first part, the first stage, without which no further advancement in kung fu is impossible, is the construction of one's own body. Why is it necessary for a person who has embarked on the path of Tao and Te? This is how the great Chuang Tzu says about it: “You don’t own your own body, how can you own Tao? (... Your body is one of the forms of the Universe. Your life is the union of Heaven and Earth ...) ".

Learning sets of formal exercises is the second part of the process of mastering the art of kung fu.

How to approach the comprehension of the formless Tao? Kung Fu offers us its own approach, being a "form of the formless". Behind the specific and regulated movements is a single whole, which contains Everything and which is the Emptiness. Each wushu style represents Tao. Only by comprehending the essence behind the external form, by achieving, while performing formal exercises, "vibration" in the same rhythm with the Master-Founder, can one comprehend the true nature of form and pass to the formless and boundless Tao.

Having cognized your body and mastered the formal exercises, you can move on to comprehending your partner. As Lao Tzu said: "Know yourself, you know others." How to comprehend and preserve the harmony of the world, interacting with other people? As you know, "Two opposite principles and many elements form harmony." It is by mastering the third component of kung fu that a student can check whether he follows his Tao, whether he knows how to control himself and control the situation in interaction with a partner. At this stage, the skill is developed to show both Weakness and Strength, to be Empty and Filled, to concentrate in the impulse of Action and to become the embodiment of Compliance and Softness. Lao Tzu says: “Water is the softest and weakest thing in the world. But in overcoming the hard and strong is invincible, and there is no equal to her. The weak beat the strong. The soft overcomes the hard. Everyone knows this, but they don't dare to live like that.

The principles developed in paired exercises are implemented at the highest level of kung fu learning - in a duel. Students learn the art of maintaining a calm mind in extreme conditions, seeing the enemy's weaknesses and directing his strength into emptiness. The inner state of the fighter becomes extremely important.

“They say who managed to take over life,

He walks on the ground, not afraid of the tiger and rhino.

Entering the battle without fear of an armed enemy.

The rhino will not find where to thrust the horn,

The tiger will not find where to lay its paw.

The enemy will not find where to strike with the sword.

There is no death for that. "

("Tao Te Ching")

One can win with one blow, if this blow is perfect, if it is an expression of the Universal, the Great Limit, if it is full of sincerity. The blow perfected is the expression of Tao.

The true path of martial art does not lie in copying the Master, the true path lies in your soul and it is open only for you. A mentor can only show the beginning of this Path, and everyone must follow it himself.

In conclusion, a few aphorisms of Ch'an Buddhist wisdom:

“We do not exist for a purpose ahead. We exist for the sake of being itself. "

“Life and death are one and the same. If you realize this deeply, then death is no longer afraid, and life does not seem so difficult. "

“Correct posture maintenance and correct movement formation are the goals of wushu practice. In this case, the consciousness is already in the correct state, there is no need to achieve any special state of consciousness. "

No books are worth personal focused experience.

INTRODUCTION

There are many secrets and mysteries in all martial arts, but in kung fu, there are dozens of times more of them. One of the most ancient martial arts, which undoubtedly arose at the dawn of civilizations ...

To begin with, before you read further entries, I would like to talk a little about the concept of the word KUNG-FU. The Chinese hieroglyph means this as a person - an artist, a person - a customer and performer of his self. A person who does not adhere to a certain framework for conducting a fight, but works spontaneously, judging by the situation that develops during the fight. So the concept of KUNG-FU is very flexible. A Chinese man, looking at a beautiful picture, can say - "what a good KUNG-FU", and a good poem can also call the same word. So we can say that KUNG-FU is not only the ability to fight and destroy everything, but it is a way of life ... You can comprehend KUNG-FU all your life, discovering your inner world in yourself. And when you are on the right path, all new talents and opportunities open up in you, you begin to compose poetry, music, paint pictures. After all, all the great masters of martial arts were engaged not only in fighting, but also had a high aesthetic development. So the correct practice of martial arts will lead you not to cruelty and murder, that is, down, but higher and higher to the top of GUN-FU mastery, and you will comprehend many secrets of not only combat, but also life. And you cannot discount your health, you will always be in great shape, forget about illnesses and bad mood, because these classes give vigor, health and strength for many years.

So start practicing KUNG-FU, because it's never too late, but of course you need to do it at a younger age in order to have time to reach the heights, because life is very small. And do not tune in that you will not reach the top, because this is not given to many, but there is nothing more important than health and excellent health.

In these notes, I have collected, in my opinion, the most necessary for starting KUNG-FU classes from many ancient treatises and from good literature about the martial arts of the East. It is no coincidence that there is a lot of philosophy here, because without it it is impossible to comprehend the truth.
TEN COMMANDMENTS

Do not drink wine, do not eat meat, suppress sex drives, do not be distracted by extraneous objects, honor the mentor and senior students. Do not allow deception in relations with them, do not boast of your knowledge and do not demonstrate, do not use your art only for self-defense, in every possible way avoid the fight, do not teach unworthy people. Shuttle Tactic - Strike like lightning, disappear like the wind. Jiao approved in kung fu an approach to combat combat tactics as a way for the small to defeat the great. Jiao Yuan combined the techniques of the Tiger, Dragon, Snake, Leopard and Crane schools. On the basis of Jiao Yuan's commandments, the concept of FIVE QUALITIES OF A WARRIOR was developed.
THE FIVE QUALITIES OF THE WARRIOR
TENDERNESS - the ability to feel the enemy, to anticipate his behavior in order to develop an optimal pattern of their actions.
DIRECT - consistent and unswerving implementation of the chosen scheme of actions necessary for victory, without regard to possible own defeat.
IMPASSIVENESS - maintaining mental balance under any circumstances, gaining the ability to react not to a separate action of the enemy, but to see him as a whole, assessing his combat capabilities.
GRACE - the ability to move and act in a combat situation with the least expenditure of forces.
COMBINATORY THINKING - the ability to choose the optimal complexes of movements, it is easy to rebuild from one system to another, which is especially important when conducting a duel with several opponents.
ENERGY GIN LECK

Mental rather than physical, Jin Lek manifests itself in cases of exceptional concentration. Only the mastery of this internal energy allows you to perform impossible acts without discarding the athletic capabilities of the individual. Jin Lek is available only to true masters and continues to act even when physical strength leaves them with age. Such people are able to stop the enemy from a distance.

ENERGY CONCENTRATION - it is not enough to be able to create a surge of strength in oneself, ready to break everything, - you need to be able to direct the force correctly. It depends on proper muscle coordination. Concentration of energy also presupposes concentration in time (speed of movement) and in space (completion of a blow and maintaining force at points and places limited for its application using natural body parts and reaction forces).

ENERGY TRANSFER - the entire blow of force concentrated in the arm or leg and directed towards the enemy should hit him at the intended place, as if he would be struck by a ejected mass thrown out with force, the kinetic energy of which suddenly stopped, turning into a destructive effect of the shock wave ... It is a very short but effective touch, in which the mobilization of bodily strength and mental focus are concentrated. This moment is sometimes accompanied by a short and strong cry, which facilitates unloading.

STANDS - the effectiveness of this or that technique largely depends on the adopted stance. Stoics allow you to direct the entire force of the body in a given direction, on the other hand, they provide stable points of stability necessary to concentrate energy when striking and blocking a blow.
USE OF ANTI-FORCE

Any action evokes opposition of equal force in the opposite direction. In kung fu, as well as in karate, the desired effect is the same with each exchange of blows. With each blow, the body is fully strained for a very short period of time, not only for protection, but also for retaliating in the opposite direction. Consequently, a double effect is obtained when striking, the shock wave is thrown forward due to the stability of the fulcrum and the synchronous action of the muscles. This increases the impact power in the opposite direction.
USE OF ABDOMINAL FORCE

The SHI HAI point - the sea of \u200b\u200bbreath - is the source of abundant and lasting strength. At the first level, the main task is to develop abdominal muscles that lower the body's center of gravity. We can say that the blow is inflicted with the stomach and only additionally with a hand or foot. The second level is related to the study of internal styles. There is a source in the vital center of a person that few people suspect, but which is inexhaustible because it is associated with the hidden forces of the universe. This is a rather metaphysical concept, but only thanks to it you can achieve the heights of mastery.

SPEED
Knowledge of techniques or their prediction will not give anything if the implementation is delayed. The technique should work as soon as it came to mind. The Chinese have a saying - a counter-attack must start after the enemy attack and end before him - this is the essence of the art. Gaining time is achieved only with complete relaxation.

STRENGTH AND FLEXIBILITY
It is necessary to have both, and strength and flexibility, depending on the conditions of the battle.

BREATH
The body goes through phases of strength and weakness, depending on the respiratory period: when inhaling, the muscles relax, a feeling of lightness appears, and, conversely, when exhaling or holding the breath, the muscles contract - and a strong blow can be delivered.

Breathing should be abdominal as in indoor styles.

THE HIT WITH THE RIGHT TAKE IS INVISIBLE.
THE OPPONENT MUST BE DROPPED WITHOUT SEEING YOUR HANDS.
TO MAINTAIN THE ART OF COMBAT, IT IS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE ITS PHILOSOPHY,
WITHOUT MIND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE.

Thoughts should not be focused on one thing, and one should not be completely absorbed in every movement. A kung fu practitioner should be at the same time the author and performer of his self, voluntarily immersing himself in the work of his body. You should be distracted from the environment in order to become more receptive to the inner forces that govern the body.
PHILOSIAN ROOTS

Man is the Universe. What is most important in human life is always to adhere to the cosmic order. Man - a microcosm - is just a continuation of the universe, the macrocosm and its vital internal energy are only a particle of the Universe, and if a person gives it the opportunity to flow freely, then as if the eternal energy of the cosmos will act through him.

SERENITY
Avoid unnecessary excitement. Truth is here at hand in the heart of man. The meaning of all things is calm and moderation. One should live in harmony with the path of nature, from this follow the principles of the inner style of Wu wei - inaction, Wano - to be liberated, and Cuyan - efficiency, spontaneity.

Everything should be in balance, like YIN and YANG.

Everything that is positive, tonic, masculine: life, sky, sun, day. And everything that dies harsh: death, earth, moon, night. But these equilibria are and are in constant motion, and the truth is in the middle of the path. This fundamental philosophical position is represented by the famous symbol DAY DZI.

Thus, we have completed a short course about kung fu, now let's move on to the main thing: studying the internal style of Wu-wei.

Instead of hitting the arms and legs, the first thing to come should be breathing - qi, which is carried with the blood and is the basis of valor and strength.

When the tip of the tongue rises to the sky, the qi breath becomes healthy, and when the qi breath is directed into the cinnabar field, the Szhen Spirit becomes strong. Downward breathing should reach the center of Yun-Tsuan's foot, and upward it should reach Mount Kun-Lun - the crown of the head.

Following these Chinese sayings, all strength in martial arts lies in the correct application of qi breathing and the directing of internal energy by tensing and relaxing the muscles while blocking or striking. In order to learn this, we must learn to breathe correctly, feel the movement of Qi energy in a small and large circle, learn to fill the cinnabar field of Dan-Tian with Qi energy and throw it into the leg or hand.

In breathing exercises, there are six types of breathing, which represent six stages for a deeper mastery of breathing.
Natural breathing.
The circulation of the YIN and YANG substances (small turnover of the celestial cycle).
The circulation of the YIN and YANG substances (a large turnover of the celestial cycle).
Control and frequency of breathing of SI-TNW.
Throat breathing HOW-SHOW HU-SI.
Internal breathing.

The first stage is natural breathing. During inhalation, there is a small gap between the nose and lips, and the upper and lower teeth touch each other. The tip of the tongue touches the base of the lower teeth. As you inhale, your abdomen bulges out. During exhalation, the mouth closes smoothly, the tongue drops to the lower palate and as you exhale, the stomach is pulled up. This breathing should be practiced every day for half an hour. However, you should start with three to five minutes, then go up to ten minutes and finally up to half an hour.

All other stages also require half an hour of practice a day. After thirty days of classes in the first stage, you will see the results in the fact that you will become stronger, mentally more vigorous, and the power of the lungs will increase.

The second stage is called the circulation of the YIN and YANG substances, the small celestial cycle. According to the Qi-Gong theory, the front part of the human body belongs to the YIN substance, and the back to the YAN substance, and if the YIN and YAN substances cover one small celestial cycle, this means that the Qi breath can expand, circulating in the upper part of the body, without reaching the lower part of the body. Therefore, this cycle is called the small celestial cycle.

The circulation of the YIN and YANG substance along the small celestial cycle is also called reverse inhalation and exhalation, since in this case the expansion and contraction is opposite to the first stage of natural breathing, in which the stomach is pulled up during inhalation. Although breathing is carried out through the nose, it is necessary to control the circulation of Chi breathing through the mind, directing it to the upper part of the body, that is, in this case, the mind controls the Chi breathing.

While exhaling in your mind, you should think about how the Chi breath from the crown of the head descends through the chest into the area of \u200b\u200bthe cinnabar field. While inhaling, you need to think about how the Chi breath from the cinnabar field rises through the tailbone, up the spine, reaching the brain. During inhalation, the anus must be drawn in.

If you are standing in a fighting position, then while inhaling, you should strain your toes, as if grabbing the ground. This helps to raise the Chi breath. The training time in this way is 90 days. As a result of these exercises, you can cure lung disease, intestinal diseases, heart disease, low blood pressure, etc.

The third stage is called YIN and YANG circulation in a large cycle. It is so called because breathing extends to the lower part of the body. Due to the fact that the trainee has already mastered two methods, learned to breathe more deeply and fully, the circulation of Chi can be distributed throughout the body. During breathing, exhalation is done through the mouth and inhalation through the nose. During exhalation, the abdominal cavity expands and at this time it should be imagined that Qi breathing descends from the crown through the chest and cinnabar field to the center of the foot, where the YUN-QUAN point, or bubbling source, is located. During inhalation, one should think that Qi breathing through the YUN-QUAN point rises to the tailbone, further along the spine and neck, penetrating into the brain. During inhalation, it is necessary to strain the toes. The training period is 180 days. The effect is the same as in the second stage, among other things, this type of breathing strengthens the nervous system.

The fourth stage is called the control of the frequency of breathing for SI-TNW, it is also called natural breathing.

It is called natural because there is a successive expansion and contraction of the abdominal cavity, however, inhalation and exhalation are deeper and longer than the first. The fourth stage lasts 60 days, it serves for the harmonious development of the abdominal cavity and for the treatment of intestinal diseases.

The fifth stage is called throat breathing. It is also called enhanced deep breathing. The throat should be widened as much as possible. widening the throat allows you to strengthen and deepen the inhalation and exhalation. Why are the words that are chanted well? .. Because the throat is completely open, the expansion and contraction of the abdominal cavity at this stage occurs in the same way as in the second and third stages. In addition, the Chi movement should be done throughout the body. The duration of the classes is 90 days. It strengthens the internal organs very well.

The sixth stage is called internal breathing: inhalation through the nose, the abdomen is pulled up during inhalation, and expands during exhalation. Why is it called internal? Because during inhalation, the sound of breathing is not heard, so the breather himself cannot hear the sound of breathing. During inhalation, Chi descends from the crown of the head into the cinnabar field, then below. The duration of the classes is 300 days.

While developing these breathing methods, one must not forget that the muscular system of the arms and legs and the flexibility of the body should develop in parallel. Which is an integral part of martial arts training. After mastering the correct breathing and feeling the circulation of Chi energy in a small and large circle, you need to learn to throw energy through the arms and legs in order to deliver an irresistible energy blow, which is called the black YAN blow.
REST, MEDITATION

Peace lies in the emptiness of the heart, which holds only the image of the one, and ten thousand things fall into emptiness, like stones that sink to the bottom of the sea.

In the relaxation of the muscles, your lungs are like quicksand, in which the blood, following the Chi breath, moves smoothly downward. The inhalation and exhalation should be deep, long, careful and balanced, so that the length of inhalation and exhalation does not differ by one iota.
ADJUSTMENT OF THE MIND

Chi breath must connect with the power of LI, the brain must maintain unity with the heart, the heart must connect with the mind, and the mind must lead the breath.

Chi breathing strengthens the LI power, and the power is the engine of Chi breathing. Through breathing, effort is made, and the effort must reach the eyes and sight.

The action should be carried out smoothly and gradually; you will not achieve success through sudden movements.
UNITY OF INHALATION AND EXHALATION

The body moves like a rolling wave, and the arms fly out like the waves roll. And when they strike, even a shadow is not visible, you need to quickly defend, you need to quickly attack. So the great secret of the art of movement is the unity of inhalation and exhalation. TSZUN-QI (main breath).

If you practice long and hard, then your strength, like a wave, can destroy the mountain.
KINOVARNOE FIELD

The law of the cinnabar field is the basis of breathing exercises, and the force that comes from the cinnabar field is equal to the strength of the tiger. All one hundred joints of the human body move together and movement - striving - effort erupts like a volcano, Chi energy permeates all joints - joints of the body, and its strength is like a thunderbolt, and its speed is like lightning.

When the main breathing of TSZUN-QI, the guarding breathing of WEI-QI and the initial breathing of Yuan-Qi of the whole organism are concentrated in the cinnabar field of DAN-TIAN, then the body is capable of unleashing an enormous irresistible force on the enemy. The best time to practice concentration on the cinnabar field is at dawn, from five to seven in the morning; in the morning, from nine to ten; in the afternoon from two to three and in the evening from nine to eleven. At the beginning, do ten to thirty minutes, and after one year, you can spend 30-60 minutes.

BASIC PRINCIPLES OF QI BREATHING CONTROL

Chi breath control, the ability of the mind to direct the Chi breath to the right place in the body. For example, your liver hurts and therefore you need Chi breath to flow to the liver. Concentrate the Chi breath in the required place little by little.

You can direct the Chi breath wherever you want. In addition, a good way to control Chi breathing is to control breathing through sight. If you want Chi breath to go to the brain, you need to raise your eyes up. If you lower it at your feet, you need to look down.
The heart is the original guide (commander).
Qi breath is movement forward.
The eyes are banners and banners. If the eyes are blurred, vision is not concentrated, then you do not see clear indications. As a result, movements and rest lose the correct sequence, the regular alternation of inhalation and exhalation is disrupted.
All body movements, leg movements, arm turns should be mobile. And this mobility is achieved through the training of Chi breathing. Rapid movement, and the Chi breath rushes with full speed. If you don't have to fight, then everything is fine. And the battle happens - you win it.
EYES

Eyes play an important role in martial arts practice. Hone your ability of vision to see the location and formation of the enemy, because your will follows the turn of your eyes. The movement of the heart must set in motion all one hundred joints of the articulation of the body, and the essential strength of a person comes from the lungs.

It is necessary to regulate and control the sequence of inhalation and exhalation of movement and rest, taking in the Chi breath and concentrating it into a single lump. After all, every movement of the body is permeated with a single QI breath, as a result of which both legs and arms become fast and strong like a monkey.

And a person moves with the speed of a flash of lightning, and he passes with a joyful mood, having won all the fights.
QI BREATH AND LI POWER

Chi breath circulates in the system of channels and meridians of JIN-LO in the tendons and channels of MAY. And the source of LI power is blood, muscles, skin and bones. If the enemy is strong, then his appearance, skin and bones, express external strength, and internal strength lies in tendons and channels. Chi breath and blood act as an internal force, while blood and LI force act as an external force. And only if you understand the meaning of Chi breath and blood, then you awaken the source of origin of Chi breath and LI power.

First, the Qi breath moves, from which the action of the LI force arises, and if the cinnabar field is filled, then there is enough force and breath.
FIST FIGHTING SECRETS

During the fourth phase, you need to straighten the joints and remove the exhausted Chi breath from the body. Go up 9 times and go down 9 times. The exhalation is like an eagle grabbing a fish with its claws, and the inhalation is like a huge peng bird that spreads its wings. In the hour of tzu, persistently and persistently practice the exercise "the wind swings the willow" and the exercise "diamond fist" should be done in the hour of hai. After eating, repeat the "metal finger" exercise many times, and then break the wooden doll with the edge of your palm. With an open heart, practice the "crack a brick with the crown of your head" exercise and in the afternoon use your elbow to break a stone. When the Chi breath reaches the top of the KUN-LUN head, you do the "diamond foot" exercise. When hungry and tired, lift the Chi breath by jumping on the wall. After hanging bags of sand and stones at your feet, walk 1000 li, and when the breath of Chi leaves the cinnabar field, sweep the yard. When Chi breath gathers in a cinnabar field, go upstairs, and, like a gust of black wind, bring down the forest to the ground. When the Chi breath comes out and reaches the Bai-Hua point, the wind moves downward, sweeps across the market, pulling your bow, as you bend your bow forward and kick in the tiger pose, concentrate the Chi breath, returning it to the heart, and directing it to the base of the foot ... Qi breath permeates both feet, and you stand like a rider sitting on a horse, steady like the TAISHAN mountain - a staircase leading to heaven. If you transform the breath of Chi, then in battle it is like an arrow fired from a bow, you fly by the elusive strength of your spirit with the speed of the wind.

These are all translations from ancient Chinese martial arts treatises. Each such saying goes as if in a coded form, and everyone who reads this must figure out for himself what it is about and how to correctly apply all this during training. Consider further these treatises, they will talk about raising your hands, bringing them to the rigidity of a deadly weapon.

Shaolin monks were forbidden to carry weapons with them, and therefore they made terrible weapons out of their hands and feet, bringing their hardness to the hardness of metal.
FISTING

Every day, early in the morning and before bed, first hit the inner wall or wooden board with your fist. Do three sets every day, in one set, deliver 50-100 hits. And only after three to five months do you begin to notice any results. Three to four sets should be done per day, and each set consists of 50 beats. After three to five months, when you can break a brick, proceed to breaking stones.

And now we will find out how the Shaolin monks did it.

During the fourth watch, hit the bag of rice, and in the evening, by the light of the stars, hit the board. Hit the dining table at noon, and hit the wall in the afternoon. The skin bursts and the blood scatters in splashes, and you continue your training in spring and winter.
FINGER PRINTING

One must try to train the strength of the index finger, and for this the Chi breath must come out of the cinnabar field. First you should hit the millet with your finger, then you should hit the sand and gravel with your finger. And your finger will turn red and swell, but you have to beat 3800 times. After that, the meat on the finger turns into scabs and calluses, then you need to beat them into iron filings. After that, as he struck nine times a thousand times, the finger will burst and blood will appear. But then the corn will cover your finger with a triple layer, and the nail must change three times, and then you will become a husband who has achieved perfection in the martial art. You hit the wall and a hole will appear in no time. the flesh on the finger turned to metal.
BREAKING STONES HEAD

First, you need to stand in a three-circle stance and set the Chi breath in motion five times. At the same time, it should leave the cinnabar field and go to the point Bai - Huah. Then they hit themselves on the top of the head and hit themselves on the skull with their fist, and gradually the blows become stronger and stronger. Head blows are applied to the wall, you can break a wooden board. This exercise is best done at noon. When exercising, the tongue should touch the palate, the mouth closed, breathing through the nose. The Chi breath passes through the crown of the head, and when the Chi breath exits, a sharp sound is emitted. At the same time, Chi breathing cannot be relaxed.

It should be noted that these trainings should be supervised by an experienced master to avoid all kinds of injury and concussion.
EXERCISES

Let's now look at what various exercises give us, there are a lot of them in the fighting schools of the east. I will give an example of just a few of them that I most often use in my studies.
Scratch your ear with your shoulder. It helps to normalize the tone of blood vessels in the head, relieve fatigue and irritability, and eliminate stiffness in the shoulder girdle.
A snake in a dance. Warming up the muscles of the lower back, increases the mobility of the spine, has an effect on head pain.
Massage your knees. It has a tonic effect.
Snake ring. Increases mobility in the hip joint.
The snake plays with its tail. Tones up the nervous system.
Defeated dragon. Strengthens the abdominal muscles.
The boa constrictor prepares for the throw. It is accompanied by massage of the reflexogenic zones of the lower back and the back of the hand. It is associated with the activity of the genitourinary and central nervous system. Helps prevent lumbar pain.
The snake bites its tail. Massaging effect on the active zones on the ankles and toes associated with the activity of the nervous system of the organs of vision and hearing, the endocrine glands.
Hands push the sky. It is used to restore breathing and the ability to associate tension and relaxation with inhalation and exhalation.
The snake raises its head. To warm up the joints of the hands, the movement is practiced: the hand-snake used in fighting techniques.
Take a look back. To eliminate overwork and seven diseases (heart, liver, spleen, lungs and kidneys, as well as from disorders of the genitourinary system).
FINGER

It is believed that each finger is associated with a certain cosmogonic beginning - these are the five elements of traditional Chinese philosophy (metal, fire, water, wood, earth).

Or something else. For example, in NINJUTSU schools, the Thumb corresponded to emptiness - the beginning and ending point of all things. Index - to the wind and any gaseous substances, was responsible for wisdom and virtue.

The middle finger - fire and burning - represented intelligence and aggression. The nameless - water and liquids - controlled body activity and emotions. Little finger - earth - is associated with human stability in a changeable world.

The right hand is positive - YIN, which gives off energy. The left one is passive, YAN, which accepts energy. By closing the thumb and ring finger in a ring, the adaptability and flexibility of consciousness increases. Interlacing of fingers KUZI-IN, which closes the circulation of Chi along a special trajectory. One finger calms the mind, the other gives strength, and the third adaptation in extreme conditions.

QIN-TsZO - sit down
TSILAI - stand up
KAISHI - start
SEN-SHEN - teacher
ZAI-JIANG - goodbye
LANCY - training
LUVEY - end

So the commands before the start will sound like this; DUXING, ZHANLI is commanded by the senior student, after that the teacher comes out in front of the formation and greets everyone: NINHAO, HAO - the students answer. Then the command CHANZO, QIN TsZO sounds, everyone sits down for meditation before class.

After 2 - 3 minutes of meditation, the TsILAI command sounds, and at the teacher's signal, everyone jumps up from their seats. The LANCY KAISHI command sounds and the training begins, after the training the senior gives the command to DUXING ZHANLI, everyone builds up, and the teacher commands JAI-JIANG LANSI LYUVEI, and the training ends there.

Now let's move on to the secrets of Chinese medicine. I want to tell you about the secrets of Chinese pills, the composition of which I will give further. The Chinese have always played an important role in their special traditional medicine, which is mostly based on natural components and bioenergetics of the body. The secrets of this medicine come from the most ancient roots of Eastern civilization. After all, it is known that she is the oldest on earth. The development of the martial arts of the ancient east and the development of medicine have always gone side by side, because one is unthinkable without the other.

A very good remedy for martial arts training, increases energy strength and promotes rapid recovery of the body during intense training.

The tactics of conducting a fight in kung fu are complex and diverse. Let's look at some of the main tactical points and principles of conducting a duel.
In a fight, the following requirements should be met: elbows at the ribs, fists are always at the heart. Hands, as a rule, should protect the upper and middle level, legs - the lower one.
Defending against a powerful blow, you need to dodge, leave the line of attack, and then use the gap in the enemy's defense and counterattack him.
All parts of the body in kung fu act in concert. An unsuccessful punch is reinforced by a kick and vice versa.
The most important thing in kung fu is the correct joint action of the arms and legs. Each change in the position of the legs (position) must correspond to the action of the hands. Moreover, in order for the technique to work effectively, it is necessary to fill the blow with energy (that is, an effort should arise - jin). This energy is generated in the waist, amplified by the leg and reached by the arm. The strikes are performed with and without shouting. Sharp and powerful blows are usually accompanied by a scream, which increases the release of energy during the blow.

Distance
The first thing to start with learning tactics is the distance at which the enemy is located from you.
In hand-to-hand combat, without the use of weapons, there are four types of distances:
1. Fight close to the girth, that is, what is called a fight.
2. Close combat without girth or the distance between opponents is no more than half a step. This is the sphere of blows with elbows, knees, head, painful techniques on the joints of the hands.
3. Distance 0.5-1.5 steps. This is the sphere of action of punches, palms, fingers.
4. Distance 1.5-2.5 steps. This is the scope of kicks.
All these types of distances will be subdivided as:
1. Fight close.
2. Close range.
3. Average distance.
4. Long distance.
Of course, this division is somewhat arbitrary and largely depends on the individual characteristics of the enemy. For example, if you are fighting a tall opponent with long legs, then you should take into account that one step is equal to your one and a half, or even two steps. If the opponent is not tall, then it is quite natural that his step will be equal to approximately 0.7-0.8 of your step. Therefore, when assessing the distance, never be content with dogmas, but always proceed from the real situation.
At the beginning of the battle, it is best to be located at a long distance (1.5-2.5 steps) from the enemy. This distance is optimal because it takes you out of the immediate threat of a fist blow, and you can only get a leg with a jump or bounce, and if you are attentive and mobile, you will always be able to react to such an attack.
If you are closer to the enemy, you simply may not have time to react to his quick and impetuous attack. And with more distant - you yourself will not be able to carry out a successful attack.
Distance is so important that even a small mistake in reach can render an attack useless. You must make an attack a moment before the enemy is within reach, not after.
The distance is broken with steps, jumps and jumps.

The attack or retreat must be swift and decisive. The enemy should not anticipate your movements until it is too late.
Such distance assessments should be made by the fighter automatically (subconsciously) throughout the fight.

Following
Another most important tactical principle of fighting is following.
In the tradition of Chinese martial art, the understanding of "following" is embodied in the following formula: "Before the enemy moves, I move myself, before the enemy stops moving, I stop myself; the enemy tires myself, and I rest; the enemy is cruel, and I am soft, the enemy retreats, and I attack; the enemy advances, and I retreat; the enemy is in motion and I am moving. "
If the enemy makes any movement, you must immediately react to it. For example, if he takes a step forward, then it is necessary to take a step back or to the side, leaving the line of attack. If he steps back, then you step forward and, at the slightest opportunity, launch a quick and decisive attack.

Spoof attack
It is very difficult to defeat an opponent if he is in a comfortable position, ready and waiting for your attack. In order to win, you need to get him out of this situation. And here such a tactical way of conducting a duel as a deceiving attack comes to the rescue. Cheating is an essential part of the theory of kung fu combat. In all styles of Chinese martial arts one can find the expression: "The voice is heard in the East, but the blow comes from the West."
This tactical method differs from other methods by using deceptive movements and strikes at the beginning of the attack. It is based on the fact that you start the attack with deceiving blows and movements. The essence of this method is that when you strike a deceiving blow, you do not put all your strength into it, but only imitate. The enemy, not knowing this, reacts like a real blow, thereby opening up for your next, already real attack. And in this attack you are already putting all your effort, all your potential.
Often, in order to successfully carry out an attack, it is necessary to inflict not one deceiving blow, but several, and only after that proceed to a real attack.
In order for the attack to be more successful and effective, it is necessary to carry it out to different levels and strike from different directions.

The principle of hand and foot coordination
An old saying of kung fu masters says: "If the hand has reached the point of striking, but the leg has not arrived, then you are only looking for trouble. And if the gaze has reached the right point and the arms and legs have arrived, then you have learned the secrets of the skill."
One of the most serious deficiencies in a fight is the lack of coordination of the arms, legs and gaze. If the blows of the hands lag behind the movement of the legs, in this case the blow will be ineffective. If the blows with the hands are ahead of the movement of the legs, then even if the blow does reach the goal, it will be weak, since it is devoid of the force coming from the legs. In addition, with such a blow, it is easy to lose balance and the opponent can take advantage of this.

Hand matching principle
Movements should be continuous. The rotation of the shoulders on impact should completely follow the movement of the fists (palms).

Strength comes from the lower back
This principle is one of the most important in kung fu. The source of movement is always in the lower back, and any movement is carried out by twisting the lower back and the whole body. The masters say: "When entering into contact, every time you need to curl up, transform and change your appearance, do not leave traces!" The root of the transformation is hidden in your step, you step forward or backward - first of all, the lower back moves.

Tension-relaxation principle
During the preparation of the blow, the fist (palm) remains completely relaxed and only at the moment of striking, thanks to the effort of jin, the fist (palm) gains extraordinary firmness for one elusive moment.

The principle of the presence of softness and hardness
True mastery consists in mastering the principle of mutual transition and interpenetration of hard and soft. Before the rigidity is fully revealed at the moment of impact, you need to cultivate relaxation and living emptiness within yourself. The masters say: "Transform hardness with softness, conquer softness with hardness."

The art of looking
In the martial arts, gaze is one of the indicators of mastery. A clear and quick look in a fight is no less important than trained arms and legs. One or another state of consciousness is directly reflected in the look. A beginner's gaze is usually riveted to the opponent's arms, legs, or eyes, giving away his uncertainty or indecision. The question of where to direct your gaze during a fight always caused a feeling of bewilderment and confusion among inexperienced fighters. In principle, there is no single answer. Different masters interpret it in their own way.
Some recommend looking in the eyes, others at the shoulders, and still others at the opponent's chest. But they all agree on one thing - in no case should you concentrate your attention on any one point. Otherwise, you simply will not notice the next movement of the enemy. For example, you focused on his lower body kick and missed a punch to the head as a result. In any single combat, it is recommended to look as far as possible in order to perceive the enemy as a whole, without being distracted by details. Any of his movements and blows should "slide" through your mind, without getting stuck there, which will allow you to adequately respond to all his actions.
The art of the gaze was given a lot of attention by kung fu masters in the past. For this purpose, various exercises were performed - daily gymnastics for the eyes. One of the simplest exercises: without moving your face, move your eyes as far as possible up, down, right, left, in a circle. This exercise can be done at different speeds. If the eye muscles get tired, you need to close your eyes tightly several times and quickly blink.
The following exercise can be done throughout the day. Wrap a bright lamp with a light green shade and place it in front of you about 60 cm apart. With your eyes slightly closed, look at the lamp for 15-30 minutes.
Try to focus your eyes without letting the light source blur, this will require some effort of consciousness. After three months, replace the lampshade with a darker one, at the same time reduce the incandescence of the lamp and move it back to 1.5 m. It is imperative to practice in a dark room. The exercise allows you to see the smallest details of objects 5 m distant and instantly react to all the enemy's movements. The final stage of this exercise is the swing lamp. Attach a lamp, flashlight, or other lighting object to the rope and swing it around. Within 10 min. keep your eyes on the subject carefully without turning your head. This will allow you to easily follow all the movements of the enemy.
We can recommend another simple exercise for the development of peripheral vision. It is necessary to direct a calm gaze into the distance and, without fixing it on anything, slowly raise your hands forward. Making any movements with your fingers, gradually spread your arms to the sides. Try to perceive the nature of these movements, configuration, etc. At first, the movements should be simple and noticeable, and then more and more complex and inconspicuous. The main thing is to develop the ability to catch the slightest movements on the periphery of the gaze and immediately assess their nature. A similar workout can be done with partners.

Combat rules.
The rules of fighting in kung fu are collected in figurative sayings:
1. GENTLE like a cat.
This rule says that it is necessary to move during a fight easily, naturally and gracefully, like a cat.
2. Warlike like a tiger.
The tiger personifies bravery and warlikeness. Therefore, having met with the enemy, strive to overturn the enemy's courage at once. Go forward abruptly, retreat without confusion, assessing the real situation, hit hard, sharply rushing at the opponent.
3. Walking like a dragon.
The dragon in China is a symbol of strength and power. Therefore, the steps must be strong, powerful and confident. If the steps are not sure, then the fists are out of order. The step is not fast - the fist is careless. Thus, the steps must be solid and solid. It is necessary to lower the level of the step when a stable base is needed, the step follows the movement of the body, the step ends its action and the body too.
4. Acting like lightning.
You need to be fast as lightning, instantly reacting to any changes. It is important for a person in a duel to perform punches with his hands, like flashes of lightning. You should hit with your hands so fast that you don't feel the moment you hit, and if your strike hits the target, you shouldn't feel it. Shaolin monks say: “It is necessary to strike without feeling the manifestation, if you feel the manifestation, then the strike is delivered without energy.
5. Screaming like thunder.
During the fight, the most powerful blows are accompanied by a shout, helping to release even more jin effort.
6. Moving like the wind.
You must move swiftly like a violent gust of wind. Having entered into a fight, go straight into a frontal attack, use force from the left and right, observing the principle "the fist is visible - the blow is invisible" and "if you do not see the hand thrown forward, then hitting the person, you will not see him again."
7. Standing like a nail.
On one leg, you need to hold yourself confidently, like a hammer in a nail. ...
8. Heavy as a mountain.
It is necessary to maintain stability in the racks, like a mountain that cannot be budged. To develop stability, it is necessary to train sitting in a mabu (rider) stance or standing,
post. These two exercises are essential for training leg strength and breathing regulation. I trained them - and in movements you will be as stable as Mount Taishan.
9. Light as goose down.
But at the same time, you must move quickly and easily, instantly reacting to the enemy's actions, just as fluff moves easily with any, even the slightest, breeze.
10. Soft like cotton wool.
Before the rigidity is fully revealed at the moment of impact, it is necessary to cultivate relaxation and living emptiness within yourself.
11. Hard as iron.
The body, arms and legs of a fighter with the help of certain methods of stuffing must become hard, like iron, and when coming into contact with an opponent, act on him as if he were in contact with a metal object.

Last week in the pages website an interview was published with a kung fu master, a follower of the Zizhan-men style, Vladimir Shustrov. Today the readers' attention is invited to an interview with the best student of Vladimir Petrovich - our interlocutor was Innokenty Kesarev, known to many fans of martial arts for his performances on the interstele "Open Carpets".

Innokenty Kesarev and Vladimir Shustrov

Karate . ru : How did your martial arts journey begin?

Innokenty Kesarev: When I went to first grade, on the very first day, at the very first break, we grappled with a classmate - we fell to the floor and started fiddling around. He grabbed my neck and began to squeeze, and I did not know how to get out. After this incident, I went to SAMBO. And then, a few years later, in the same school, another guy punched me in the face, broke my lip, and I was extremely surprised by the fact that you can beat, and not just fight.

Then there was the film "Pirates of the XX century" - there were already kicks. And after that, video salons appeared, in which Chinese militants were shown. And I didn't miss a single one! It was then that the idea was born to learn how to fight in such a way that it does not matter what style the opponents are doing, what size they are and how many there are. I believed that it was kung fu that could give all these skills. This was the only clear formed desire: I did not want to be either an astronaut or a doctor, but I longed to learn how to fight!

Karate . ru : What difficulties did you face on the way to your cherished goal?

Innokenty Kesarev: This may be a cliché, but in my case it is 100% correct. First of all, I had to conquer myself, because before learning how to cope with other people, I had to learn how to cope with adrenaline, emotions, dependence on the opinions of others, with fear and insecurity. But this is not the main thing.

Karate . ru : What's more important?

Innokenty Kesarev: I will soon be 42 years old. I have been doing kung fu for 18 years (most of this time - every day, and for the last 10 years - 2-3 times a day). Once a week, after the main training session, we hold 6-9 five-minute fights. And I have enough strength and health to do all this, and looking at those who are 10-15 years younger than me, I understand that I am not doing all this in vain. Maintaining the ability to continue doing what you like, and at the same time continuing to progress (do everything faster, stronger, more technical, more difficult, more beautiful) - that's what is important!

Karate . ru : 18 years of study - was everything really smooth, without disappointments?

Innokenty Kesarev: There were many disappointments. It doesn’t work, the legs don’t rise to kicks, it works out in training, it doesn’t come out in a duel, it’s hard, everything hurts, injuries. It turns out that you need to practice even more diligently just when it doesn't work out, when you want to give up everything, go to the mountains to snowboard, then go to the sea to ride a board and do nothing else.

Karate . ru : And how did you overcome yourself?

Innokenty Kesarev: I don't even know, I just kept on training. I was angry, I thought, "why the hell am I in the gym all the time, I also study at home." Many times I caught myself thinking “I won't be today” - and even agreed with myself, but still continued to stretch, lift dumbbells, do the form and went to the gym for training.

Karate . ru : They say that you are very successful in interstyle fights ... What do you think determines your success?

Innokenty Kesarev: In general, I did not choose an opponent for myself on any open carpet. After the first few meetings, the event organizers saw my level and began to select opponents for me themselves. Very often people came out against me who were 10-20 kg heavier than me - and they were very strong and experienced rivals. I have never given up. And whether I successfully conducted these fights can be judged by numerous videos.

Karate . ru : Tell us about your mentors and their role in your development.

Innokenty Kesarev: I have only one mentor - Vladimir Shustrov. He taught me everything I know and still continues to teach. This is a person whom I have seen more often than anyone else in my life. Of course, he had a huge impact on who I am now.

Karate . ru : What are your plans and goals in kung fu?

Innokenty Kesarev: Plans and goals ?! It's simple: keep practicing and training your group. Kung Fu allows you to do this all your life. The main word is "do"!

Karate . ru : Did you have to apply your skills outside of training?

Innokenty Kesarev: I had to. I fought a lot on the street. My teenage years were in the late 80s and 90s. At school, on the street, during a "trip" to a neighboring area. He began to study in the 99th. Back then, people often fought in the streets. Although I am a very calm person and have never initiated fights. In general, real kung fu, not cinematic and not circus, is the most effective and applicable martial art (namely in a street fight, without rules, without weight categories and restrictions).

Karate . ru : You have touched on an interesting topic - the use of martial arts in a "no rules" environment. Fights according to the MMA rules are very popular now. Is kung fu applicable and relevant in mixed martial arts?

Innokenty Kesarev: The rules for fights on open carpets are very similar to those in MMA. Rather, these are not even rules, but a number of restrictions in order to prevent serious damage and injury, since most of the participants are not professionals, we do not earn money from fights, but we do it for our own experience and pleasure.

Karate . ru : You also mentioned "cinematic" and "circus" kung fu. How are these phenomena different from real kung fu?

Innokenty Kesarev: Myths and reality are extremely distant from each other. It is impossible to learn in 3 years, like in a movie. Nobody knows how to fly. There are no secret death points (but there are places, with an accurate strong hit, death can occur, regardless of what technique the striker was engaged in). Kung Fu is a lot of hard physical training, stretching, hitting, blocking, pairing technique, full body stuffing and, of course, sparring. How else to understand if you can really fight? Interstyle fights are needed precisely for this - to understand if the kung fu technique is suitable for a duel with people engaged in different styles.

Karate . ru : What assessment can you give to the state of kung fu in Russia?

Innokenty Kesarev: About the state of kung fu in Russia, I can only say that of the many clubs that have "kung fu" in their names (except Vinh-Chun), not one has ever come to the open carpets in which MMA fighters participated, Muay Thai, Sambo, Karate, Judo ... Draw your own conclusions.

We thank Innocent for the conversation and wish him to always be faithful to the chosen path!
