How to make a foundation for a corrugated fence with brick and iron poles. A fence made of corrugated board on a strip foundation: Price Making a foundation for a fence made of corrugated board

Since the corrugated board fence is a rather heavy structure, the foundation for it must be reliable and durable. The most suitable is the strip foundation. It is a continuous strip formed of reinforced concrete. Such a tape is constructed along the entire perimeter of the fence. The advantage of such a foundation is the possibility of evenly distributing the weight of the fence on the ground, which protects the corrugated board and racks from skewing.

The strip foundation can be poured in one piece or assembled using blocks.

prefabricated foundation

The prefabricated foundation is the installation of prefabricated reinforced concrete blocks. Such a base has become very popular in our country, due to the ease of installation. Even if you have never thought about how to make a strip foundation, you can always mount a prefabricated foundation without building skills.

Benefits of a prefabricated foundation

Flaws

The prefabricated foundation can withstand a sufficient amount of tension and can be used for at least 65 years. With the use of reinforced steel rods and mortar to reinforce the foundation, concrete blocks are a reliable choice for fence construction.

A precast strip foundation can be installed on soils that are characterized by high carrying capacity, such as loamy or loose soil.

Monolithic foundation

The monolithic foundation is widely used for the construction of corrugated fences. Depending on the magnitude of the load, it can be:

  • buried to a shallow depth;
  • buried on the ground surface;
  • surface.

For the construction of a fence from corrugated board, a superficial monolithic foundation is suitable.

Advantages

Flaws

  • the need for outside assistance during installation;
  • longer costs for preparatory work;
  • unstable during floods;
  • prone to splitting on loose soils;
  • under adverse weather conditions may be deformed.

Pouring a monolithic foundation for a fence

The main stages of building a foundation for a fence consist of:

  1. Preparatory work;
  2. Land works;
  3. Bookmarks for the foundation;
  4. foundation pouring;
  5. Final works.

Required Tools

Preparatory stage

Before you pour the foundation under the fence yourself, you need to determine:

  • Place of erection of a fence made of corrugated board.

All work begins from the moment you determine the location of the fence.

  • Foundation depth.

Each fence needs a certain depth of foundation, which must be built on a supporting layer of soil (dry clay, compacted gravel or packed sand) below the freezing zone. In Russia, the freezing depth ranges from 1.35 m in Moscow to 1.50 m in Vologda. In the case of sandy soil, the base of the foundation can be placed at a depth of 1 m.

  • Base width.

The width of the base is made the same as the width of the wall or plinth of the fence. In the case of a stone fence, it is assumed that the width should correspond to 1/5 of its height, but not less than 30 cm.

  • Concrete for pouring the foundation.

Concrete for pouring the foundation for the fence is usually used reinforced, grade B15 (M200). However, for heavy fences, which is corrugated board, reinforced mortar can be used.

earthworks

In preparation, you need:

  • from the line of freezing of the earth (for each region of Russia its own value);
  • on the type of soil.

Make sure you dig the hole below the frost line. Otherwise, the ground may freeze and affect the fence support. If you live in an area that gets really cold winters, you'll need to dig up to 1 meter.

Also, the depth of the trench will depend on the composition of the soil. For sandstones, bulk soils and gravels, it is enough to dig a hole 0.5-0.6 cm deep. For loam and sandstones - up to 0.75-0.8 cm. Where the soil is clayey and especially dense, the depth can reach 1 meter .

Foundation laying

  • Pillow tab.

In order for the foundation for a corrugated fence to be reliable and stable, you first need to prepare an appropriate pillow. It serves as depreciation and helps to reduce the stress load on the foundation itself and the supporting structures of the fence. The pillow can be:

  1. gravel-sand;
  2. sandy, from the material of fine and medium fractions.

On the site, a recess is made up to 30 cm (depending on the soil), where sand and gravel are poured. To compact it, it is poured with water and rammed.

  • Formwork construction.

In order to pour the foundation for a corrugated fence with your own hands, you need to build an appropriate form, the so-called. formwork. For this, a flat edged board 1.5 * 2.5 cm is used, which will provide an attractive side of the foundation.

First, shields are prepared for each straight side of the trench. The boards at the ends are fastened with self-tapping screws. This will prevent holes in the joints and further leakage of the concrete composition. Further, the formwork is installed in a trench and bursts with the help of pegs to strengthen the shields.

Remember that the board shield should be installed a little higher (30 centimeters) than the level of the planned concrete solution.

  • Pillar installation.

Since each profiled sheet has a certain length, the installation locations of the pillars are determined along the entire length of the trench. The foundation for the fence posts must be monolithic with the rest of the base of the fence. Otherwise, when changing climatic conditions, the foundation may settle, which will lead to the skew of the gate. Pillars should be installed below the freezing mark of the soil by 20 cm.

  • Foundation reinforcement.

To strengthen the base, longitudinally located rods 12 mm in diameter are used every 25 cm. Such reinforcement should be located at the bottom of the base.

  • Waterproofing.

The base of each fence must be horizontally insulated, such as with tar or bitumen. This will prevent capillary action of water from the ground and the occurrence of salt stains on the foundation.

  • Formwork pouring.

The final stage in the construction of the foundation for the fence is to fill the prepared trench with a solution. To prepare a suitable concrete composition, you need to use:

  1. clean sand of medium fraction (from 1.1 to 3.4 mm);
  2. clean gravel particle size 1-8 cm;
  3. crushed stone can be used instead of gravel;
  4. cement.

You can choose the cement for the foundation:

  • Portland cement (universal, used for any structures);
  • slag portland cement (the advantage is increased resistance to moisture);
  • pozzolanic cement (suitable for use in high humidity conditions);
  • fast-hardening cement (matures rather quickly).

During pouring, it is necessary to align the installed pillars. Theoretically, it is quite possible to pour the foundation under the fence yourself if you have skills in construction. However, to speed up the pouring process, it is better to have an assistant.

Final works

The next step is the waiting time for which the solution must harden. This may take several weeks. All this time it is necessary to monitor the condition of the filling. On hot days, to prevent drying out, it is necessary to moisten the surface of the foundation. During rains, the poured formwork should be covered with plastic wrap.

To increase the density of the pour, after 5-10 days, bricks can be laid on the surface of the concrete, which will give maximum compression and displace air voids.

After the concrete hardens, you need to remove the formwork and continue building the fence.

If you decide to build a fence from corrugated board, you must definitely take steps to create a suitable foundation for it. It is quite possible to build the right foundation for a corrugated fence with your own hands. It will allow the fence to function in various situations and serve as a guarantee of its durability.

The foundation for a corrugated fence does not have to be tape at all. It can also be made using another technology - the optimality of tape pouring is dictated by the minimum financial costs for the purchase of building materials and labor costs for their use.

Basic fence building techniques

There are by no means many of them, at least six are actively used:

  • Stone or brick fence. Massive, solid and solid, a complete guarantee of the absence of prying eyes and an effective barrier to predatory encroachments. Materials for such fences are expensive, and the device itself is not only costly, but also time-consuming;
  • Reinforced concrete slabs in special supports - used for fencing enterprises and organizations, they are practically not found around private houses;
  • Lattice fence made of forged rods or standard rolled metal. Openwork and light, it can be an impressive element of landscape decor, but it is blown by all the winds. It is hardly cheaper than stone, craftsmen are needed for manufacturing and installation - you cannot make forged structures yourself and you cannot weld them to each other in a quality manner;
  • Wooden fence, a classic of the genre comes from a rustic picket fence. It is built quickly, simply and cheaply - and wears out almost with the same speed. If you want to regularly repair your fence, choose a wooden version of its arrangement.
  • Hybrid fences - made of stone and forged elements, with brick inserts and mosaics. Pompous buildings of pathos architecture of the highest price category, sometimes their cost is comparable to the price of the house itself, protected by such a fence;
  • Structures made of economical and durable corrugated board, light, economical and with a decent service life. You should not expect great aesthetic merits from them, but reliability and durability are quite acceptable.

A strip foundation for a fence made of corrugated board is optimal in most repair cases, but we will also consider other ways to make a foundation for a fence made of corrugated board.

The website site masters have prepared a special calculator for you. You can easily calculate the right amount of corrugated board for the fence.

Foundation for a corrugated fence - possible options

In general, the fence around the house can be based on the following building structures:

  • Pillar filling. At a distance of 1 to 5 meters from each other, holes of considerable depth are dug, depending on the type and weight of the pillars up to 1.5 meters. During installation, the pillars can be driven into the ground, after which they are poured with a cement-gravel mortar. The fasteners of the main intake web are carried out to the supporting pillars protruding from the ground. Pillar pouring is like a base for a fence made of corrugated board, but the distance between the supports should be made small due to the windage of the perforated sheets, which significantly affects the repair budget;
  • Monolithic pouring - for swampy soils and heavy fences, with the installation of load-bearing pillars on previously laid concrete layers. It is often used as a foundation element for buildings attached to it. Costly, but valued even more;
  • A stone foundation, which in the strict sense is not a foundation (it is not deepened into the ground). A stone belt up to a meter wide and up to a meter high is assembled from massive boulders, fixing metal fittings and mortar - and the fence itself is already mounted above it. For light and economical profiled sheet is not used.
  • Strip foundation encircling the perimeter of the site, with elements of fastening reinforcement for profiled sheets periodically protruding from above. It may have separate in-depth pillows with supporting pillars, such a foundation is called a tape-pillar foundation. The only foundation for a fence made of corrugated board, poured with your own hands without any problems, is precisely the tape. In terms of the classic combination of price / quality, strip and strip-pillar structures as supports for profiled sheets have no competition.

The foundation for a fence made of corrugated board - with your own hands, step by step and carefully

A reliable tape-type foundation must go through several mandatory stages in its creation.

Foundation for a corrugated fence - a step-by-step diagram

Step 1: marking

A number of pegs with twine are hammered along the entire perimeter of the future fence, it is stretched in one line. It is obligatory to fix the twine at all turning points of the fence, and especially at the places of future gates and gates. To estimate the scope of future work, you will probably need a theodolite or similar measuring instrument. The height difference along the entire length of the fence can be significant - and this will require in-depth excavation in one area and more superficial in another. No one needs extra hours of work as a digger.

Step 2: Digging a Ditch

A ditch with a depth of at least 30-35 cm is dug along the entire fence line, an identical operation is performed when laying paving slabs and similar landscaping works. In the places where the pillars are installed, it will be necessary to deepen it significantly, up to 60-90 cm (depending on the type of soil).

For ordinary corrugated board, the recommended distance between the mounting posts is no more than 2 meters, otherwise, with strong gusts of wind, our fence can fly into a fairyland. The minimum trench width is 40 cm, because formwork will be installed inside it and will take part of the size.

Step 3: pole and reinforcement

We install poles in recessed nests, as a rule - from cut iron pipes, and not necessarily new ones. Old pipes with a diameter of 50 mm or more (preferably at least 80 mm) are also suitable. Taking into account the underground part, the height of each pipe must be at least 2.5 meters - nevertheless the fence must exceed the height of the average person. Each pole is precisely set on a plumb line, its strict verticality is very important. The pillars are fastened in bulk, with a mixture of broken bricks, gravel and stones, with a guarantee of reliable fixation.

Before installing the formwork, the bottom of the trench is covered with gravel or crushed stone, about 5 cm thick, as a "cushion" for the concrete solution. Then the "reinforcing belt" is laid - a horizontal strip of reinforcement with pins going up. The fence itself will be attached to these pins, they protrude 5-8 cm above the layer of future concrete pouring. The fittings are taken the most ordinary, corrugated, with a diameter of 15 mm.

Step 4: install the formwork

The most difficult and laborious stage. Formwork is mounted from boards and fiberboard on a gravel pad - inside the trench and with an exit above the soil level by 20-25 cm. The clearance and verticality of the formwork planes should be observed. If it is possible to rent a prefabricated formwork made of light metal structures, this will greatly simplify the installation stage for arranging the foundation. The installed formwork is fixed from the outside (inside the ditch) with rubble and stones, the earth is not used for these purposes. Check the accuracy of the exposed formwork several times - corrections can only be made before the start of concrete work.

Step 5: concrete

The solution is poured into the formwork and post pits in stages - and this will be a different solution. The underground part is poured with concrete (cement + sand + gravel), and the upper part - with a cement-sand mixture. The phased pouring is explained by the need to avoid internal voids in the foundation. After the completion of concreting, the formwork boards can be removed the next day, but the installation of a corrugated fence begins only after a week. The concrete structure must dry well and acquire the necessary hardness. To do this, the concrete foundation is regularly watered.

In the process of preparing for the independent construction of the fence, you need to purchase not only high-quality materials for its arrangement, but also create a reliable, most durable and durable foundation for installing the fence.

The service life of the fence and its main characteristics largely depend on the quality of the foundation. There are several types of fence bases. With the device of each of them you can handle yourself. It is only necessary to familiarize yourself with the features of the existing options and choose the appropriate type of foundation.

Currently, several main types of foundations are successfully used for installing fences. When choosing a particular type of foundation, a number of factors must be taken into account, the most important of which are the following points:

The most optimal design option for self-construction is a tape-column base. This design perfectly withstands the loads created by most types of existing fences.

Peculiarities

It is a combined option. A concrete tape is being prepared with pre-arranged holes for placing supports. When choosing the width of the foundation tape and the optimal diameter of the supports, it is necessary to take into account the height and total mass of the fence.

To achieve maximum reliability and the required stability of the structure, the tape and columnar supports are necessarily reinforced. Thanks to the reinforcement, the load will be distributed as evenly as possible throughout the structure.

The combined foundation can withstand the weight of a wooden and brick fence, as well as corrugated fencing without any problems.

For pouring, the most common concrete is used. In general, there are no problems with the foundation device.

Arrangement

First step. Prepare your markup. Install wooden or metal pegs around the entire perimeter of the future structure. Stretch any rope between the pegs. This markup will help you better navigate in the process of performing further work.

Second step. According to the marking, dig a hole with a width corresponding to the width of the concrete tape you are pouring and a depth of about 50 cm.

Third step. In the trench, prepare recesses for placing support posts. The depth of the pits should be at least 80 cm, the step between the posts should be 100-250 cm.

It is difficult to give specific values \u200b\u200bof the depth and distance between the supports, because these parameters must be selected individually in accordance with the type of soil and the weight of the future fence. The heavier the fence, the deeper the holes should be and the smaller the distance between the supports should be.

Pits can be made using an ordinary drill or other convenient devices.

Fourth step. Install the formwork around the perimeter of the future foundation. It will simultaneously prevent the collapse of the earth and allow you to navigate at the stage of pouring the foundation.

Fifth step. Fill the bottom of each pit with a pillow of roofing material folded a couple of times and lower the support posts into the pits. The supports must be additionally driven into the ground up to about 200 mm. Tie up the posts with reinforcing bars at a depth of about 10 cm below ground level. Also, reinforcement in the form of a grid must be put on the entire foundation tape. Tie the mesh yourself from 8 mm rods.

Sixth step. Start pouring the foundation. Pour concrete in horizontal layers, slowly and evenly, so that no voids appear that can reduce the strength of the structure.

The fill will dry for 3-5 weeks. In hot weather, water the concrete. The formwork can be removed about two weeks after the concrete is poured, but it is better to do this after the foundation has completely hardened and gained strength.

This design will serve as long as possible, enduring even the heaviest loads.

columnar base

Peculiarities

The arrangement of such a foundation does not require special skills and labor costs - it is enough to dig the required number of holes, install support pillars in them and fill the holes with concrete.

Among the advantages of such a foundation, it should be noted the ease of construction and affordable cost. Pillar foundations are best suited for light fences made of wooden boards, metal mesh, corrugated board.

Arrangement

First step. Take a garden drill and prepare holes around the perimeter of the future fence. There will be enough holes with a depth of about 1-1.5 m. The diameter of the recess should exceed the diameter of the supporting pillars by about 20-25 cm. Place the holes in increments of about 2 m. In general, be guided by the characteristics of the soil and the weight of the future fence. Recommendations in this regard were given in the section on the strip-column base.

Second step. Backfill the bottom of the pits with about 20cm of sand and gravel and compact the backfill.

Third step. Install the posts in the holes, level them to the same level and fill the space around the posts with concrete mortar.

It will take you several times less money to equip such a foundation compared to the previous type of foundation, because. here you can save on the amount of concrete, reinforcing bars and formwork.

Tape base

Peculiarities

Non-buried reinforced concrete foundation. For pouring, two hundredth concrete will be enough, it can be higher. Pre-prepare reinforcing bars with a diameter of 8-10 mm, formwork material (boards, shields or plywood), coarse sand.

The tape can have different thicknesses. If you are equipping a heavy welded metal fence, deepen the tape by 80-100 cm. For light fences, a 50-centimeter depth will be enough.

Arrangement

First step. Dig a trench about 80 cm deep and 30-100 cm wide, depending on the features of the future fence.

Second step. Backfill the bottom of the trench with a 15 cm layer of sand and gravel and carefully tamp the backfill.

Third step. Lay the reinforcing mesh, retreating about 10 cm from the walls of the pit and about 7 cm from its bottom.

Fourth step. Install and secure formwork.

Fifth step. Fill the trench with concrete. Leave the foundation to dry and gain strength for 1-1.5 months.

Such a foundation is optimally suited for the installation of heavy and large fences. A trench is dug, a layer of gravel is poured, compacted, after which the foundation is poured in layers.

In addition, each layer of concrete is subject to mandatory compaction. Supports for a protection are established directly on the filled in basis. They are not used for profiled sheet fences due to the inappropriateness of such a solution - there are simpler and more budget options.

stone base

Peculiarities

For the arrangement of such a foundation, stones of various sizes and shapes are used. Stone foundations are considered the most reliable and durable. They are mainly used in the arrangement of stone fences or expensive forged fences.

The construction of a stone foundation requires significant financial investments. You can additionally save by refusing the services of third-party specialists and doing all the relevant activities yourself.

Arrangement

First step. Dig a trench. Select the dimensions of the pit individually in accordance with the features of the future fence.

Second step. Fill the bottom of the trench with a layer of gravel and carefully tamp the backfill.

Third step. Start laying rocks. First place large elements, the gaps between them can be filled with smaller stones. Additionally, fasten all elements with cement mortar. In total, the solution should account for at least 15% of the total volume of the base.

Thus, for the construction of the fence, you can use a variety of foundations. The most popular are columnar and tape-columnar (or simply tape) bases. With their arrangement, there will be no particular difficulties even for an unprepared home master.

Remember: the foundation is the most important building element. It is the foundation that sets the direction for further stages of work. The durability, integrity, reliability and, in general, the quality of the entire building directly depend on the literacy of the foundation. Therefore, be careful at each stage and follow the instructions in everything.

Successful work!

Video - Do-it-yourself foundation for a fence

The content of the article

As a rule, the construction of a capital fence on the site is carried out either before the construction of the house, or after its construction, that is, at the moment when all information about the state of the soil is known. Such soil data is necessary in order to correctly calculate the strip foundation for the fence.

We all know that tape-type foundations are quite often arranged under the walls of a residential building, but the loads perceived by such a foundation are much higher than those of a tape under a fence.

Features of strip foundations

Since the loads from the fence structure are much less, the requirements for such foundations are low. And yet, a fence installed on a concrete tape will be much more reliable and durable.

As a rule, strip foundations are provided for the following types of fences:

- fence with brick pillars;
- metal forged fence;
- a fence made of timber or corrugated board with load-bearing metal posts.

As a rule, the strip foundation for the fence is a solid reinforced concrete strip of small depth. For the device of such a tape, concrete grade M 200 of class B 15 is used. It is not recommended to lower the grade of concrete.

The casting of the strip foundation for the fence is carried out on a sand cushion. A bar with a diameter of 8-10 mm is used as reinforcement. If you use not ordinary formwork, but laminated, then the concrete surface of the foundation, which rises above the ground, is smooth and even. It can be easily painted in the desired color, which will add decorativeness and originality to the fence.

The depth of the strip foundation for the fence (as well as the width) is selected depending on the design of the fence itself. The higher the weight of the fence, the wider you need to run the tape.

So, for welded metal fences with a significant weight, it is necessary to make the widest possible tape, and the laying depth can be small. But for fences made of corrugated board, you can make the narrowest tape, but the depth of its laying should be significant. This is due to the high windage of the fence.

Construction of fences on a strip foundation

The process of arranging strip-type foundations for fencing consists of the following technological steps.

We dig a trench 30-80 cm wide, the depth of the trench depends on:

  • climatic conditions of the construction region,
  • soil stability,
  • weight and design of the fence.

As a rule, the depth of laying the foundation varies between 60-80 cm.

A gravel-sand cushion is laid at the bottom of the trench, followed by its ramming. The pillow is abundantly wetted with water.

Then the reinforcement is welded. Longitudinal reinforcement bars are laid on the bottom of the trench on supports 5-7 cm high from improvised materials. The extreme bars of the reinforcement should recede from the walls of the trench by 7-10 cm.

Transverse reinforcement and vertical posts are knitted with a step of 400 mm.

The upper row of longitudinal reinforcement is attached to the racks so that it is 5-7 cm lower than the upper level of the trench. Then the transverse reinforcement of the upper row is laid.

The manufacture of a strip foundation for a fence is unthinkable without a formwork device. It is at this stage that we begin to build it. For this purpose, we use a 25 mm thick edged board. We prepare the shields in such a way that the foundation tape protrudes 300 mm above ground level. We make a box from the shields and fix it in the trench by installing spacer bars and adding soil.

Now the concrete strip can be poured. If the fence design provides for load-bearing posts, then they must be installed in the trench and leveled even before pouring concrete.

Moreover, concreting can be performed in two ways:

  • continuous laying of the concrete mixture, without waiting for the moments of setting of the previous layer;
  • laying concrete with breaks for the setting of the previously laid layer.

For shallow trenches, the first laying method is suitable. To increase the durability of volumetric foundations, it is better to use the second method.

After the concrete tape has completely hardened, the formwork can be removed and the soil backfilled. The foundation is ready!

If you want to study the device of the strip foundation for the fence in more detail, a video on this topic can be found on the Internet.

Separately, I would like to mention the situation when, when constructing a fence with support posts, a shallow foundation tape is made. In this case, concreting the pillars in the tape will not be enough for their stability, so additional drilling of a well with a depth of about 90 cm under each pillar may be required. After installing and concreting the pillars in the pits, you can perform the usual shallow-buried strip foundation according to the method described above.

At the moment, fences made of corrugated board are very popular. They will protect your home from constant winds and prying eyes, they are durable and do not require special care, they are also an excellent protection against dust and dirt that flies from the roads into the yard. Thanks to a double layer of sound insulation, a corrugated fence with a strip foundation allows you to make the sound from the street much quieter. In addition, in a fence made of corrugated board on a strip foundation, the price can please even the most economical contemporaries.

Now consider what constitutes a strip foundation.

A fence made of profile flooring is a rather heavy structure, it is special due to the fact that the fence has a strong windage, which creates powerful wind resistance, and the dust that flies from the street will no longer get to you. This design must be based on a solid foundation, which is a solid strip of reinforced concrete. It will prevent and protect the future fence from distortions, taking on the weight of the material, and distributes it evenly over the structure.

Varieties of the foundation for fences from corrugated board. .

The foundation can be:

1) monolithic;

2) prefabricated.

A monolithic foundation usually consists of broken stone, rebar, gravel, small boulders, giving it good strength and reliability. This foundation is one of the most durable, reliable and strong, and is able to stand for more than a century.

The prefabricated foundation is installed using factory-made concrete blocks, the installation of which is carried out using a crane. The service life is approximately 65 years. The device is carried out by the phased laying out of blocks in an already prepared trench.

How is a fence made of corrugated board with a strip foundation installed?

The device of a fence from a professional flooring with a strip foundation takes place in several steps.

Stage one. We determine the following characteristics of the soil: the presence of groundwater near it, how quickly the soil grows when the soil freezes, its texture and structure. Next, we carefully mark the future fence. The angles must be equal to 90 degrees, which is checked by a special device - theodolite.

Stage two. It is necessary to dig a trench under the foundation. The pillars are installed at a distance of 2.5 m, and the place under the gate, gates is taken into account.

Stage three. In order for the racks in the ground not to deteriorate ahead of time, they need to be wrapped around the sides with roofing material. For this, recesses are dug out with a drill to give the roofing material the shape of a cylinder.

Stage four. In the wells made, we drive the pillars into the soil at a distance of 20 cm. It is necessary to ensure that the racks are installed at an angle of 90 degrees.

Stage five. At the ends of the racks we make a "belt" of reinforcement.

Stage six. The material from which the base was made is placed in the trenches. We check the correct position of the racks.

Stage seven. We lay the armature. We take several rods and tie or weld with wire.

Stage eight. A special removable metal formwork is installed. It must withstand the load.

Stage nine. Pour the solution into the formwork. After it hardens, we remove the formwork, and fill the gap between the foundation and the ground with sand.
