That's basically all, nothing complicated. Now you know how to set up Samsung A3.

Moreover, the above tips will help not only Galaxy S3 owners, but also all novice users who are just starting to get acquainted with the Android system.

Like any other surprise that can happen at the wrong moment, a gadget that is blocked causes its owner not the most pleasant emotions. However, it is important to understand that a block is a serious response that an electronic organism gives out for no reason. If an antivirus is not installed on the gadget, then picking up something harmful from the Internet is as easy as shelling pears. Plus, users often do not show much pickiness in the software, installing various questionable programs. Plus, it also happens that certain elements of the software simply conflict with each other. It happens that the most banal and simple thing becomes the reason for blocking: a forgotten Galaxy A3 pattern or a password that was entered "at random". Several such attempts may render the device unusable. Then only such a thing as hard reset Galaxy A3 can unlock the device. This is what specialized portals or advanced users call factory reset, which is an unsafe procedure. Of course, you may not fully understand what a reset is. However, everyone who knows about electronics knows what formatting is. The severity of actions here will be similar.

Hard reset kills all user information, content, contacts, software, games, media and all other entertainment. There will be nothing left. Therefore, you should not rush to start returning your gadget to its original factory settings when you have not made any copies.

As a rule, the information reserve is created by means of portable media. These can be flash cards with a large amount of memory, USB hard drives with a large capacity, a stationary machine. However, they are not always available and free. While file storages on the Internet are always available, and there are a huge variety of them: Apple cloud, Samsung. Dropbox, Yandex disk. You can safely store a spare copy of your information there.
Now let's get down to the direct algorithm.

First way to hard reset Samsung Galaxy A3:

We start working from the "Settings" directory;
Here we find such an action as "Backup, reset". It should be located in the general list.
An additional window opens, which will be called "Reset all settings".
There will be a "Reset device" function.
At the end, you need to run the "Delete all" action. As a result, you will get an almost completely renewed device, which is ready to work again.

Another method may also be needed, which is considered more stringent. Therefore, you need to carefully study what is written in the instructions below, so as not to make mistakes in pressing, and not to resort to pressing the keys clearly in turn. Otherwise, you may not be able to achieve a hard reset.

Second way to hard reset Samsung Galaxy A3. May be useful in case of a forgotten pattern

De-energize the device. You can do this forcibly by removing the battery and putting it back.
Press and hold three keys: "Volume", "Power", and "Home" (center key).

The Android logo has appeared, you can release the buttons and wait for the "Android system recovery" directory to appear.
Here you need to select the action "wipe data / factory reset", which you need to activate with the power button.

After that there should be an action "Yes - delete all user data" and its activation.

First, the smartphone will tell you to select the interface language. The Android operating system has been translated into many languages. The Russian language is also present among the options. Choose it. Or English, if that's more convenient for you.

If you cannot see or hear well, then on the first screen, in addition to choosing a language, you can go to special Samsung smartphone settings... They will enlarge the font and perform other actions to facilitate the further process.

The next step to set up your Samsung smartphone is to connect to a Wi-Fi network. You need this to sync with your Google account. If your Samsung smartphone already has a SIM card inserted, you can skip this step. But remember that you will spend some money on the traffic used to download applications and perform other activities.

After the offer to connect to Wi-Fi, you will need to set the date and time. You can check the box next to "Automatic". In this case, the unit will take the time and date data from the Wi-Fi network. Sometimes this cannot be done. Or you skipped the previous step without connecting to the network. Then enter the date and time manually. There is nothing wrong with that. When you are done with the settings of your Samsung smartphone, no one will prevent you from re-enabling auto-detection of time.

Every owner of a South Korean Samsung smartphone is required to have an account in the Samsung online service. You will be prompted to register or enter data for an existing account after setting the date. This service allows you to create a backup copy, as well as participate in various promotions. Creating a new account takes a minimum amount of time. The service is very useful, so you shouldn't skip this step. In the future, you need to go to your email. You will receive an email from Samsung. Be sure to follow the link contained in the letter. This will verify your email address.

Next, the smartphone offers to connect to an existing Google account or create a new one. This also takes a minimum of time. It is impossible to do without an account, since it is he who allows you to use the Google online store. If you have a Picasa, YouTube or Gmail account, you can enter its details. You can skip this step. Nobody bothers to register a new account or enter an existing username and password in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Usually this is the primary setting up a Samsung smartphone ends. But devices from Samsung will finally offer to use the function of determining your location. It works using a GPS chip built into the device. If you wish, you can use only partial location determination. In this case, the gluttonous GPS is disabled, and data is borrowed from cell towers and public Wi-Fi hotspots. At any time you can change the type of definition of your coordinates.

Some other Samsung smartphones offer Dropbox services. This is cloud storage. It can store photos, music compositions and any other files. At the same time, you can access them from any device, be it a computer or a smartphone. At this point, you can create a new Dropbox account or sign in to an existing one.

This completes the initial setup of the Samsung Galaxy. The device is completely ready for use!

The Samsung Galaxy A series includes smartphones in multi-colored, all-metal cases, due to the color resembling plastic. Devices that have received the same catchy design differ in their filling and screen sizes. To begin with, Vesti.Hi-tech tested the youngest model - A3.

As you know, until recently, Samsung Electronics did not use metal at all in the design of its smartphones. Perhaps they were embarrassed by the problems faced by manufacturers, who in this way tried to provide a premium look to their devices. The first Android devices with a metal frame were and. But at the end of last year, the company announced the launch of a whole series of Galaxy A smartphones, made in a single design and in all-metal, multi-colored cases. Today it includes models A3, A5 and A7 with screen sizes 4.5; 5 and 5.5 inches, respectively. It is interesting that all these devices received, although different, but not at all premium stuffing. The color scheme with an abundance of options provides the newly-minted devices with a catchy and stylish appearance. It is not clear, however, why it was necessary to use metal for the cases and then paint it "like plastic".

Design, ergonomics

The most budgetary option in the new Galaxy A line is the younger model - A3. Of course, its dimensions have nothing to do with the paper size of the same name (297x420 mm). Against. Equipped with a 4.5-inch screen, the smartphone turned out to be "classically" compact (130.1x65.5 mm) and rather thin (6.9 mm), like, for example, (6.9 mm).

The A3 is just 0.2 mm thicker than the 6.7 mm model, which is considered the thinnest among its brothers in the "Galaxy". And the weight of the A3 is small - just over 110 grams.

In general, in comparison with the currently fashionable tablet phones, this device seems frankly small - a kind of lady's trick. Not for nothing, among the multi-colored cases, in addition to strict - black and white, elegant - silver and gold, there are also glamorous ones - pink and blue.

Although the case of the A3 model, in contrast to, say, from, is completely made of metal, but the presence of the latter is reminiscent only of the silver bevels of the rim, which runs along the entire perimeter.

In particular, for the model we got for testing, white paint with a pearlescent tint skillfully stylized the metal to look like matte, literally velvet, plastic. It is clear that in the cold it is almost impossible to confuse these two materials by touch. Well, in home-office conditions, to find out the truth, it remains, perhaps, to put the device in the refrigerator (which, of course, should not be done unnecessarily).

Samsung smartphones are distinguished by the continuity of the front panel design. And A3 does not break this tradition.

In the upper part of its front panel, covered with a protective glass of the new generation of Corning Gorilla Glass 4, right above the Samsung logo, they placed the "earpiece" grill, light and proximity sensors, as well as the front camera lens.

Below the display are two dedicated touch buttons "Back" and "Recent applications" with an indispensable mechanical "Home" key between them.

The volume rocker was placed on the left edge of the device,

and on the right - the lock power button, as well as two closed slots with trays. The taller and larger one is combo and can accept both a nanoSIM card and a microSD card. The second one, which is lower and smaller, is intended only for the second subscriber identification module (but also in nanoSIM format). In general, hello, iPhone and hello, i-paperclip, although you can, as usual, use its stationery counterpart as a lock pick for trays.

At the bottom end of the case there is a hole for a "spoken" microphone, a microUSB connector for charging and synchronization, as well as a 3.5 mm audio headset connector.

At the top, there is only a hole for the second microphone.

Not forgetting about another Samsung logo, in the upper part of the non-removable back panel there are holes for the LED flash, a lens with a chrome edging of the main camera, as well as a grill for a "multimedia" ("ringing") speaker.

and in the lower part they added service information.

Due to its compactness and light weight, the smartphone fits perfectly in almost any, even the most graceful hand, and the familiar arrangement of the buttons makes it even more comfortable to use. And the size of the screen makes it easy to operate this device with one hand. The non-dismountable A3 case deliberately excludes any backlashes and creaks.

Screen, camera, sound

The A3 model received a Super AMOLED display with a diagonal of 4.5 inches and a rather low resolution of 960x540 pixels (qHD). Recall that the total number of dots on a qHD screen is one quarter of Full HD (1920x1080). At the same time, the density of pixels per inch turns out to be at least 245 ppi. The scheme with two subpixels (PenTile RGBG), based on the physiology of the human eye, has replaced the traditional one with three subpixels (RGB) in the used matrix (Super AMOLED).

As you know, in Super AMOLED displays, which provide "real" deep blacks, unlike conventional AMOLEDs, the air gap between the sensor layer and the matrix has disappeared, which made it possible to increase brightness, reduce light reflection, and also reduce the already economical ( due to lack of backlight) power consumption. This screen has good anti-glare properties, which makes it easy to use even in bright light.

The A3 touch screen supports multitouch, while the MultiTouch Tester program showed that only up to five simultaneous clicks are recognized. In general, there are no questions to the viewing angles of the display. Thanks to the presence of a light sensor, the brightness level of the backlight can be set not only manually, but also using automatic adjustment. The "Adaptive display" option, which works for some applications (including "Play Books", "Gallery", "Camera"), automatically adjusts not only the brightness, but also other image parameters, depending on the ambient lighting, as well as the way you use your smartphone ... It is claimed that this can significantly reduce the strain on the user's eyes. In turn, manual adjustment of the color gamut allows you to stop at a more comfortable color reproduction. In addition to the main mode, two more are available - "Movie AMOLED" and "Photo AMOLED".

The A3 screen is protected by the new-generation Gorilla Glass 4 protective glass. This, at least, is stated on the Corning website, although, to be honest, the glass in the test sample of the smartphone did not impress with anything (it looks as usual). If Gorilla Glass 3 with NDR (Native Damage Resistance) technology was positioned to protect against various daily threats, then when creating Gorilla Glass 4 they focused only on falling. At the very least, the published crash test results have shown at least twice the crack resistance for such glass compared to its competitors.

Despite the low resolution, the A3 screen, of course, if you don't press your nose against it, trying to see the PenTile, leaves a good impression. At least the HD test clips looked pretty decent on this display.

The Galaxy A3 smartphone for the main camera got an ordinary 8-megapixel photomodule with a pretty fast autofocus and flash. The maximum frame size is achieved with an aspect ratio of 4: 3 (8 MP) and is 3264x2448 pixels. The picture quality is quite in line with a mid-range device, especially in good lighting conditions. Examples of photos can be viewed (Dropbox).

In the interface of the "Camera" application, in addition to "Auto", it is proposed to use the following shooting modes - "Retouch", "Panorama", "Auto Selfie", "Continuous Shooting", "Saturated Tones", "Night" and "GIF Animation" ... In the settings, you can select the desired image size and video resolution, turn on the flash, determine the white balance, exposure value, etc. There are also three filters available - "Negative", "Sepia" and "Grayscale". You can easily assign the volume rocker to be responsible for shutter release, video start or digital zoom. It is convenient to move frequently used touch buttons in the settings to the top of the screen, where by default there are icons for settings, flash and camera change.

As for the front camera, it was equipped with a 5-megapixel matrix, which clearly surpasses the usual needs for video communication via Skype, but allows you to make fairly high-quality "selfies". After all, the maximum frame size with an aspect ratio of 4: 3 (5 MP) is 2576x1932 pixels. For fans of "self-shooters" there are three modes - "Self-portrait", "GIF-animation" and "Group selfie" (grufe). In the settings, you can take selfies using gestures, as well as simple tools for adjusting self-portraits.

GIF Animation lets you take up to 20 consecutive frames and then automatically combine them into one animated gif file.

Both cameras can record videos in Full HD quality (resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels, 16: 9) at a frame rate of 30 fps. During this process, you can take photos with a resolution for the main camera - 3264x1836 pixels (6 MP, 16: 9), and for the front camera - 2576x1449 pixels (3.7 MP, 16: 9). All video content is saved in MP4 container files (AVC - video, AAC - sound).

Having received only one speaker, the device, nevertheless, reproduces music well - the sound is quite clear, although the volume control range could be increased. Even if the smartphone is lying on a flat surface "on its back", the speaker grill does not overlap, since this is prevented by the chrome edging of the lens of the main photomodule, which protrudes a couple of millimeters.

The A3 has a built-in FM tuner that supports online recording of any radio broadcast. Recall that it is imperative to connect a wired headset or headphones to your smartphone as a short-wave antenna.

Filling, performance

The Galaxy A3 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) quad-core chip, which is made taking into account the design standards of 28 nm. This is the company's first 64-bit processor to use the ARMv8 instruction set and the ARM Cortex-A53 core architecture, running at 1.2 GHz.

Acceleration of graphics operations is performed by the on-chip Adreno 306 coprocessor (400 MHz). The signal processor located there also supports photo modules with matrices up to 13 MP and video recording with Full HD 1080p quality. The Snapdragon 410 has a built-in LTE modem that supports the absolute majority of the world's 4G / LTE and 3G networks, while working with two or even three SIM cards. There are also wireless communications Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, a multisystem receiver for satellite navigation (GPS / GLONASS / Beidou) and FM radio.

The basic configuration of the tested smartphone includes 1 GB of RAM, which is quite a bit by modern standards, especially considering the memory-hungry TouchWiz shell. Therefore, the results obtained on tests for the A3 model, in principle, are not bad, but far from being a record. Note that chips of the 400th series are positioned for middle-class devices, while they are promoted as the best choice in terms of price-performance ratio.

On synthetic tests AnTuTu Benchmark version 5.6.1, the new model was at the end of the displayed list of results, earning only 18,819 "virtual parrots".

On the Vellamo benchmarks in terms of the number of "horsepower" (Metal) and the efficiency of using processor cores (Multicore), the smartphone did not stand out in any way, which only confirmed the filling of the "average".

If we forget about the low screen resolution (960x544 pixels), then for the two main settings on the Epic Citadel visual test, the A3 results were simply flagship. So, the average frame rate for High Performance and High Quality (performance at the expense of quality and vice versa) was 59.1 and 58.1 fps, respectively. And the result for the Ultra High Quality setting was also, in general, not so bad - 44.2 fps.

The far-from-record results on the universal gaming benchmark 3DMark, obtained, in particular, on the Ice Storm Extreme test recommended for this smartphone, do not look like a tragedy. Recall that the A3 model is not at all positioned for cool 3D games.

Of the 16 GB of internal memory in the A3, only about 11.9 GB is available, and even less is free. For expansion, there is a slot for microSD / HC / XC memory cards with a maximum capacity of 64 GB. The device lacks support for USB-OTG technology.

As already noted, the new Snapdragon 410 crystal supports wireless interfaces, of which the A3 implements IEEE 802.11 b / g / n (one 2.4 GHz frequency band), Bluetooth 4.0 (LE), and NFC. When installing a SIM card (nanoSIM), not only 2G / 3G cellular networks are available, but also LTE - 4G Cat. 4 (150 Mbps). It is possible to install two such subscriber identification modules (both 4FF formats), but then you will have to abandon the card to expand the built-in memory, which is not very cool.

When determining its location on the AndroiTS GPS Test program, the test smartphone was limited to only A-GPS, for some reason ignoring satellites from the GPS and GLONASS groups. Most likely, this is a bug of the test device, although the first thing I wanted to do was to blame the problems of antennas in a completely metal case.

The Samsung Galaxy A3 smartphone received a non-removable lithium-ion battery of a very small capacity - 1,900 mAh. Nevertheless, according to the manufacturer, on a single charge you can talk on a 3G network for up to 12 hours, surf the Internet via 3G / LTE / Wi-Fi, respectively, 8/8/11 hours, listen to music for up to 60 hours or watch videos up to 11 o'clock. In our testing, a set of MP4 and HD video clips spun continuously at full brightness for about 6 hours.

In addition, on the AnTuTu Tester 2.5 battery tests, the device honestly earned a pretty decent number of points (7,301). This is largely due to the low resolution (540x960 pixels) and the screen manufacturing technology (Super AMOLED).

In the A3 settings, the "Extreme power saving" option is offered, when the battery is saved by limiting a number of functions (reducing the number of available applications, temporarily disconnecting communications, as well as using the home screen theme in simplified shades of gray).

To save energy, only WiFi and mobile data can be used for positioning and navigation (A-GPS mode).

Software

Galaxy A3 runs on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) operating system with the well-known TouchWiz proprietary shell from other Samsung smartphones. Its appearance has not changed in comparison, for example, with premium models, but the functionality remains only the most necessary.

In the TouchWiz interface, application icons, widgets and folders, as usual, are brought to the desktops, while there is a separate menu for programs. Main settings, retaining their structure, are collected in a single vertical list with bright flat icons.

Of the preinstalled applications, it is worth noting a good file manager, the Galaxy Apps recommendation service and the S Planner.

Purchase, conclusions

According to Yandex.Market, the average price for the Samsung Galaxy A3 is currently 19,990 rubles, which is clearly discordant with the modest stuffing of this device. In addition, the low resolution of the screen, as well as the alternative installation of a second SIM-card or memory card, does not cause delight. However, A3 has something to boast about, for example, a new 64-bit platform, good battery life and a protective glass of the next generation Corning Glass Gorilla 4. And LTE support is not so common in mid-range devices.

Of course, the A3 model will be appreciated by those who are primarily interested in the compactness of a smartphone, for example, women. They will certainly be attracted by the stylish appearance of this device - a thin metal case and its glamorous coloring. In addition, the Galaxy A3 can be recommended to all Samsung fans who want a smartphone with a flashy, premium exterior, but do not need a powerful filling at all.

The results of the review of the smartphone Samsung Galaxy A3
