The division of the combined bathroom into two rooms. Which is better: a combined or separate bathroom. Stages of work on combining a bathroom with your own hands and the principles of their implementation

We struggled for a long time with a simple shared bath. There are 4 people in the family and in the mornings a real queue lined up in front of the door. Since we have a Soviet-era house, it was, to put it mildly, uncomfortable, very long and narrow. It contained a cast-iron bathtub, a 40 cm wide sink and a toilet bowl. The first thing we did was split it up. I had to put up a partition and buy additional doors, but the result exceeded all expectations.

After separation, we got a decent bathroom, which included a 90 * 90 hydrobox, a 60 cm sink and a washing machine. There were no particular problems with the choice of hydrobox. They did not pay attention to the manufacturer's company, they chose it exclusively according to the parameters. The main criterion was the presence of the function "". It is very convenient and pleasant, especially if you have long hair, washing your hair is a pleasure. Well, where without! Therefore, our choice fell on the budget hydrobox model for $450. Be prepared for the fact that the installation of a hydrobox is also not free and will cost $15-20. You can, of course, suffer and assemble it yourself, but then you will lose the guarantee.

Only after the selection of the hydrobox and its inspection by our builders was the new one finally completed. This is very important, because the depth of the drain and the height of the exit holes for the pipes with water are different for all hydroboxes. We have a very low one, so they even tore off the floors and further deepened the sewer drain so that the siphon would pass.

We searched for and chose a sink with a bedside table for a long time, I really wanted a hanging one. The price for them, although more expensive, but they look spectacular, and it is much more convenient to clean, the dirt does not clog between the floor and the legs. We opted for KOLO, no complaints. This beauty cost us $ 150 and this is only thanks to the promotion in the store.

We also removed the old coil and instead hung an electric heated towel rail. They took the domestic company "Teply Dom". It heats up quickly, it winds very little electricity, it costs only $ 70.

In the toilet, I finally realized my dream - a shower-bidet. Pleasure is not cheap, about $ 300 for the shower itself and the water temperature control joystick. To say it's practical is an understatement. In addition to their direct hygienic duties, it is very convenient for them to wash the children's pot and collect water for mopping: it's faster and the sink does not get dirty. The toilet was also purchased by KOLO. We have water meters installed, we chose them with the function of full and half draining of the tank. This allows significant cost savings.

InterCerama tiles were laid on the walls and floor in the toilet and bathroom, we argued for a long time about colors and shapes and settled on a marble-gray rectangular tile from the ALON collection. The cost of tiles is very low, about $14 sq.m, and the quality is at the highest level. Separately, we bought several panels with decors from the same collection. The ceiling is made of mirror plastic everywhere, halogen lamps were chosen, so the ceiling height decreased by only 5 cm.

All piping changed and recessed into the floor and walls. With the help of a special window, they retained access only to the most important communications.

Separately, they spent money on decor elements: all these shelves, hangers, hooks and coasters are simply insanely expensive, but you can’t do without them. Hanging stands for toothbrushes and for a hair dryer conquered us first with their design, and then during operation also with their practicality.

So do not be afraid to radically change something. Only you can create the bathroom of your dreams.

Combined bathrooms with a bathroom often do not cause much enthusiasm among the owners of a small apartment or a small house. After all, a bathroom combined with a toilet is a problem for many people, because the family often has to share the territory. And especially, this discomfort is felt in the morning and evening hours: someone needs to brush their teeth, someone needs to take a shower, and women need to wash off their makeup and so on.

Shared rooms often lack windows and lack good ventilation. Therefore, in such rooms it is necessary to install a built-in hood (electric fan). This is necessary because the use of all kinds of air fresheners will not be able to hide the unpleasant odors that will always be in rooms where there is no circulation of clean air.

Combined bathroom with toilet

Therefore, it is not entirely hygienic to have towels, toothbrushes and other personal items in a poorly ventilated room. Thus, even if you plan to make a partition in the combined room, the question of ventilation also remains relevant.

shower cabin

As a rule, in small apartments, the area of \u200b\u200bthe bath with a toilet is from 3 to 4 m2. Accordingly, it is very difficult to find extra space for a washing machine, a bedside table for a washbasin, a laundry basket, since the main area is occupied by a large bathtub. In this case, a shower cubicle will help save space, thanks to which you can almost half increase the number of valuable meters. In fact, a massive bath is intended for preventive water treatment, but from a hygienic point of view, a shower is much more practical.

Combined bathroom - design option

So which is better: a combined or separate bathroom? A connected bathroom with a toilet is justified if the room is not the only bathroom in the dwelling and when no more than three people use the room. Therefore, despite the widespread desire to increase the area by destroying unnecessary wall partitions, one should first think about the possible consequences of this action.

Advantages

In a large room (from 8 m2), filled with air and light, there are all the necessary plumbing fixtures and special furniture. And if the dwelling has an additional bathroom, then it is difficult to find cons in the joint room.

A functional bathroom provides its users with:

  • bath;
  • large washbasin;
  • places for the location and installation of a washing machine, bidet, toilet bowl or jacuzzi.

With proper zoning, you can functionally divide the area. And also to make an original interior, heated floor and arrange a lot of interesting accessories. Then in such a room you will want to do not only cosmetic procedures, but even plant indoor plants that diversify the design with plant motifs.

Combined bathroom

Naturally, not everyone can afford to make the combined rooms cozy and spacious. However, if you wish, it is still possible to increase the area by adding a few meters to the room, where there used to be a pantry or closet.

Separate bathroom

Minuses:

  • small area;
  • the front door is uncomfortable;
  • closed spaces create a feeling of discomfort.

Small area and wrong door position

A separate bathroom has two of the most significant drawbacks - the wrong location of the door and limited space. These two factors do not allow you to place the sink in the toilet. However, if you change the design and make an opening for the door in a different place, then the washbasin can be placed in the corner of the room or in the wall opposite the toilet. But still, when the area is very small, then this decision will be inappropriate.

Separate bathroom

Discomfort

Unfortunately, the enclosed space makes most people feel some discomfort. For these reasons, if a separate bathroom cannot be combined, then the space should be visually enlarged through competent lighting, light colors and mirror surfaces. At the same time, care must be taken that the space is well ventilated.

pros

When two people live in a small apartment, a separate bathroom is the best option. Therefore, many residents of small houses want the bathroom in their home to be separated, so that every resident of the apartment will feel absolutely comfortable.

Separate toilet

Today, quite often in spacious apartments there are two bathrooms. This allows you to make in the apartment both a combined, located next to the bedroom, and a separate bathroom (guest), where there is a washbasin and a toilet. As a rule, the latter is located near the exit from the apartment, next to the kitchen or on the second level, if there is one. And if guests are a rare occurrence in the house, then a special children's toilet can be made from the second bathroom.

The owner of the apartment or house should decide which bathroom is better: separate or combined, coordinating all intentions with other residents, and also based on the possibilities of housing planning.

Sharing a shared bathroom

Have you been planning to put your bathroom in order for a long time, but you constantly lacked the finances or time for this? And then came the moment when the room waited in the wings. If it was once decided to combine the combined toilet with the bathroom, and now you again want to make the rooms separate, but at the same time you don’t want to make redevelopment of bricks? Then you can make a small wall that will perform a protective function, separating the washbasin and toilet from the bathroom.

Thus, the layout looks like this: a washing machine, a toilet bowl and a washbasin are located along the length of one wall, and a corner bath is mounted along the other, while a chrome dryer is planned to be placed along the entire height of the room near the bath. The latter will perform not only its main function, but it is also necessary for heating the room.

Stages of separating a bathroom with a toilet

  1. The work process began with the removal of linoleum, and then tearing off the concrete floor, which can sink in certain places, and it can also have deep cracks.
  2. After that, the old pipeline should be replaced with a new one, consisting of plastic. At the same time, sewerage from intact cast iron can be left in its original form. The plumbing should be hidden under the tiles. To do this, use an angle grinder and a puncher to cut a hole in the wall.
  3. Concrete screed can be made without the use of building mixtures. For these purposes, it is sufficient to use a solution of 3 hours of cement and 1 hour of sand. When the composition hardens, the surface of the screed should be poured with a self-leveling mixture.
  4. If you do not want to make a brick wall, replace it with moisture-resistant drywall.
  5. If the walls in the room are crooked, then their irregularities must be plastered with a mortar of cement and pitch. And in order for the composition to be easily stretched, it is necessary to add a little lime to it.
  6. The field of how the plaster grabs on it with a sharp object, for example, a nail, you need to draw lines to enhance the adhesion of the plaster to the tile.

Upon completion of the preparatory work, it is necessary to proceed with the laying of tiles and the installation of plumbing elements. By the way, all the draft types of work can be done by yourself. But for laying tiles it is better to hire professionals.

Combined bathroom

tile laying

  1. First you need to mark up the places where the tiles will be placed.
  2. You need to lay the product from the top corner, and the lower part of the tile should rest on the rail nailed earlier.
  3. In our case, the tiles are laid on the basis of ceresite. When he grabs (one and a half or two hours), the rail is removed and you can start laying a new row.
  4. Laying the initial row is not easy work, because laying tiles from top to bottom is not very convenient. But then, thanks to the vertical markings, the tile is laid much easier (from the bottom up) and the workflow will go much faster.
  5. By the way, in order to save money in the process of laying tiles on a vertical surface, ceresite is applied pointwise to the edges of the product. But in the case of floor laying, it is better to apply ceresite to the entire surface.

Now you know how to make a separate one from a combined bathroom. Therefore, stock up on the necessary materials and feel free to proceed to the separation of the bathroom!

A team of craftsmen in Moscow.

If you are no longer able to wait in the morning turmoil for your turn to the toilet while one of your household takes a shower, then it's time to change something. In such cases, I offer my clients the most optimal solution - division of the combined bathroom into two rooms.

I have been doing similar work in Moscow for a long time, and I always do it quite quickly and with very high quality. I always provide a guarantee for my work.

If the family consists of only two people, the combined bathroom is not a problem, but if several adults and children live in the apartment at the same time, then using the toilet or bathroom becomes quite difficult.

How much does it cost to split a shared bathroom into two separate rooms?

The need for separation

To begin with, it is worth finally making sure that it is necessary to separate the combined bathroom into two separate rooms.

Here are just some of the disadvantages of a combined bath with a toilet:

  • Insufficient ventilation. Usually in multi-storey buildings in the bathrooms there is no window, so good ventilation is necessary for air to enter, which is not always possible. Therefore, personal items in the room are not particularly hygienic;
  • Small square. When the bathroom and toilet are located in a small area, then I recommend divide the combined bathroom into two separate rooms. In this case, it is best to remove the bathroom and install a modern shower cabin.

If doubts about the need for a section of the combined bathroom are discarded, then you can proceed to the procedure for carrying out the necessary work.

Before rescheduling...

Straz should say that dividing or combining a bathroom is quite serious work, which requires careful design and official permission. Therefore, before erecting a partition or wall, two most important tasks must be completed.

First of all, it is necessary to draw up a detailed plan for redevelopment and repair work.

During its implementation, some questions may arise, for the solution of which you will need the help of a specialist. This, of course, will entail additional costs, but it is better to spend money on professional advice than to subsequently correct your mistakes made due to inexperience and ignorance.

In order to spend division of the combined bathroom into two rooms and install a new wall in the house, it is necessary to legalize this event, which is impossible without solving some administrative and bureaucratic issues. In accordance with Russian legislation, it is mandatory to coordinate such procedures with a construction company.

Bathroom sharing options

Our team

If, when combining a bathroom with a toilet, everything is clear to demolish the partition, carry out finishing work and everything is ready, then with separation there are several very diverse options. After all, you can not build a full-fledged brick wall, but use ready-made design solutions, of which there are a lot on the Internet. Before holding division of the combined bathroom into two separate rooms I propose to consider the most optimal options:

Partial partition

To separate the bathroom, instead of a full-fledged wall, you can install a wooden partition, decorated, for example, with glass. This will make it possible to zoning the space. This option is most optimal for rooms that have a window to the street, from where daylight comes.

small wall

Another solution for dividing the combined bathroom into two separate rooms partial wall installation. This option makes it possible to ensure confidentiality without violating the overall picture. Partial hay can be stylishly decorated, it will give the room personality. There are a lot of similar options on the Internet.

Partition screen

Pretty simple solution to a complex issue. If, for example, it has not been finally decided whether a temporary partition or a solid wall is needed to separate the bathroom, then a screen will be the best solution. The screen can be easily installed and, if necessary, just as easy to remove. Now on the market there are screens of various designs and colors, so choosing the right partition is not difficult.

glass panel

In the event that a formal division of the combined bathroom into two separate rooms, then you can resort to the newfangled kind of delimitation using a glass panel. This option will not allow aromas from the toilet to spread throughout the room, but in this option, a forced ventilation device is required both in the toilet area and in the bath area. In this case, you can get a significant visual and olfactory effect. In addition, such a solution looks quite fashionable and modern.

just a niche

If the room has a niche of suitable size, then this is a great opportunity to place a toilet bowl in it. An excellent solution, although it is incomplete division of the combined bathroom into two separate rooms. This option creates good conditions for privacy. Finishing a niche should be carried out in the same style as the main room, so as not to disturb the overall picture of the interior of the room.

Competent location of objects

In order to divided into two separate rooms shared bathroom you can use a fairly simple solution, namely, to correctly place interior items and furniture. So, for example, you can place a modern shower cubicle on one side of the room, which should be installed in such a way as to create privacy in the toilet area.

results

You were offered some of the simplest solutions, both in terms of implementation and operation, and which allow you to quite stylishly and non-standardly delimit the space between the toilet and the bathroom. Of course, there are still quite a few different options that can only be limited by your imagination. In progress dividing the combined bathroom into two separate rooms the most important thing is to achieve the desired result through the use of solutions designed for a particular room. In this case, this allows us to say that the desired result has been achieved, and all tenants will be satisfied with the alteration.

You can, of course, not bother with a brick wall, but take a more economical and simpler path by installing a frame partition made of timber and wood, getting a new wall.

A special noise-absorbing material is placed inside the partition, and the frame itself is lined with a moisture-resistant plasterboard sheet. After the new wall is processed with tile adhesive and roll film.

Finally, you need to finally decide whether it is worth sharing the bathroom, and how much you need a separate bath and toilet in order to start installing a new wall.

However, by dividing the common bathroom, you will always have a great opportunity to bask in the bathroom without worrying that someone from the household may urgently need a toilet.

Each of us tries to make the space in which he often stays as functional and beautiful as possible. This also applies to such demanded premises as a bathroom and toilet. Some try to combine these two plumbing units into a common room, and those who have such a single space sometimes want to get a separate bathroom and toilet.

If with the option of unification, the way out is obvious - the destruction of the wall, then with separation everything is much more diverse. After all, it is not necessary to build a full-fledged brick wall, you can limit yourself to design solutions, photos of which are enough on the Web. Let's consider some of them.

Closet-toilet

What a strange combination. Yes, this is how you can solve the issue of separating the bathroom and toilet, as an option. That is, if there is a closet (niche) in the room, then it can be converted into a toilet. You need to install a toilet and decorate the space. Thus, there will be a secluded place behind the closet doors, almost a separate toilet, although in fact the bathroom will be combined. In a word, both privacy and interior design will not suffer.

Half wall

Instead of a full-fledged wall, you can make a partition made of wood, decorated with glass, for example. This will allow you to beautifully zone the space, and also not worsen the lighting in the room. This solution is especially relevant in rooms that have a window with access to the street, from where they receive sunlight.

Screen

A simple solution to a pressing problem. If someone is embarrassed or needs a temporary partition, then a screen is an excellent option. It can be both installed and removed when necessary. Moreover, now from the photo you can pick up very original and stylish samples, according to which you can choose an option for your room.

small wall

Another solution for separating the bathroom and toilet is to build a partial wall. This approach will allow both to ensure confidentiality and not disturb the picture. At the same time, such a wall can be stylishly decorated, which will add individuality to the room. Photos of such elements can be found on the Internet.

just a niche

If there is a niche of sufficient size in the room, a toilet bowl can be placed in it. This is a great solution, although not a complete separation. This approach provides good opportunities for privacy. At the same time, the niche decoration should be a continuation of the main room, then there will be harmony in the interior.

"Correct" placement of objects

If the issue of zoning is more in the formal division, then you can make a modern stylish zoning with a glass panel. This will also keep the smell from the toilet from spreading throughout the room. However, in this case, both in the "toilet" and "bathroom" space, exhaust ventilation is needed. Then the effect will be both visual and "olfactory". Moreover, numerous photos on the web confirm that such a solution looks very modern.

Results

We examined several fairly simple solutions, both in terms of execution and operation, which allow you to stylishly and uniquely divide the space between the toilet and the bathroom. Of course, there are many more options. In addition, everything can be limited only by your imagination. The main thing is to achieve the desired result by applying a stylish and relevant solution for a particular room. Then the implementation will allow us to assert that the task was successful. Residents will be happy with the decision.

Any small bathroom requires proper organization of space, especially when it comes to a combined bathroom. It performs several functions at once, and in a small area you need to place a lot of plumbing and furniture items. There are several tricks and secrets that will be useful to owners of small combined bathrooms.

Non-standard plumbing

The first thing that will save usable space in a small bathroom is plumbing of non-standard shapes and sizes. The ideal option is when you can use all the corners in the room. For example, put a toilet in one, install a sink in the other, arrange furniture and a shower or a small sit-down bath in the other corners. Fortunately, today plumbing manufacturers offer narrow sinks, corner toilets, sinks and bathtubs.

Glass partition and white walls

Even before the repair, you should consider the color scheme of the room. For a small space, white, blue and light gray are ideal. The walls in a small combined bathroom are best decorated with glossy tiles that reflect light and affect the visual expansion of the space.

Another trick is a glass partition that separates the wet area. It does not visually eat up the area, prevents the spread of water to the rest of the bathroom area and zones the space.

Without shower

The shower cabin, which is most often used in a combined bathroom, takes up a lot of precious space. That is why many refuse it. Instead of a cabin, you can install a special pallet and make the floor with a slight slope and just pave it with tiles. This not only saves space, but also creates a more coherent interior picture. The main thing is to seal the floor and walls in the shower area well.

Spacious shower instead of bath

You can sacrifice a bathroom and free space for a spacious shower. This option is ideal for large people or for lovers who like to take a shower as a couple. In this case, a glass partition will be useful. To visually make the room larger, it is recommended to use a large mirror.

Behind the curtain

A traditional alternative to a glass partition is a conventional curtain. This element zones the room and prevents splashes from falling on furniture and towels. It is relevant in very small bathrooms, where it is impossible to install a glass partition. It is better to choose a curtain in a neutral color so as not to overload an already small space.

storage niches

At the design stage, it’s a good idea to think over niches for storing things and various small things. Practice shows that they can be made in any typical bathroom. It can be an open niche where it is convenient to put towels or shampoos, or a closed vertical box that slides out with the help of wheels. You can hide anything there - all things will be securely hidden from moisture.

Shelves above the door

In a small bathroom, you need to use any free space. This includes the place above the front door. It can also be used wisely, for example, to build a convenient shelf. It can store household chemicals and items that are not often used. In this case, the main thing is not to overload the shelf.

19. You can hide a lot of items here

Mirror cabinet

The mirror is an essential element of the bathroom interior. Today, this piece of decor is often combined with wall cabinets. The result is a convenient and spacious locker for storing small items or a first aid kit. Such furniture is a great option for a small bathroom.
