Familiarization with the instruction

First of all, you must definitely read the instructions that come with each washing machine, and find out all the possible nuances of installation. You also need to strictly follow the step-by-step instructions, starting with unpacking the material and ending with setting up the first wash. When you unpack your machine for the first time, be sure to save a few shipping bolts (usually 3 or 4 pieces) that you may need to transport the machine to a new location or, God forbid, to the workshop.

Location selection

After that, you need to choose the most convenient place in the room. The machine should not interfere and take up too much space in our not very luxurious apartments. The most popular installation option is used in the bathroom. But small bathrooms often do not allow this, so the second most popular option is to install a washing machine in the kitchen. Another installation option can be a corridor. It can fit perfectly into this part of the apartment without taking up much space in the usable area, but then it should be taken into account that all communications should be nearby.

Initial installation stage

If you still don’t know how to connect the washing machine correctly, then we remind you that, first of all, you need to release the equipment from all fasteners that were installed for transportation and, most importantly, release all rotating parts of the washing machine from the latches. If this is not done, then the drum may be damaged when turned on. And this is a sure case of partial or complete breakdown of household appliances.

Note!

After unscrewing the transport bolts, do not forget to put special plastic plugs in the holes.

Sewer connection

The next step is to connect the washing machine to the sewer. When installing the machine, there may be some differences from the standards. For example, if there is no washing machine and water moves only in one direction, then the connection is made strictly according to the instructions with the specified level (its minimum and maximum values \u200b\u200bshould be painted) for placing the nozzle. If the minimum level is specified as 50 cm, then the nozzle must not be placed below this value. This is more clearly demonstrated by the diagram below.

Scheme No. 1

Your next step should be to connect the outlet of the machine to the sewer pipe. To do this, you must first purchase a siphon, and after that, install it. The siphon will provide the most reliable fasteners and protect against any leaks. Some users attach the drain hose to the edge of the tub or sink. But it is clear that this option is not very reliable due to the likely accidental grazing of the hose, its fall and pouring water onto the floor. After connecting, check that the hose is straight and free from kinks. Installation of drain hoses to the machine is carried out using clamps and adapters.

Water connection

The next important step will be connecting the washing machine to the water supply. This is done with 3/4" hoses. You may need to lengthen them. Then this must be done with the help of rubberized cuffs. Then you need to cut a thread in a certain part of the water supply, if possible, the most accessible, and put a valve there, with the help of which water is supplied during the start of washing.

Filtration system

To increase the life of the washing machine, special filters are used that look like grids. They prevent foreign particles from entering the drum and are an important element in protecting the machine from premature wear.

Water supply method

Drain tanks or faucets can be used to supply water. If water is taken from the mixer, then a special tee must be used, to which a hose is connected for connection. It is possible to take water from other, more convenient places. In this case, the connection is made by using branch pipes.

Note!

One of the options for using faucets is a temporary connection.

In this case, the intake hose is unscrewed after each wash and the mixer hose is put in its place.

Vibration protection

One of the important stages of connection is leveling the level of the machine. If this is not done, then during the spin cycle there will be a strong vibration, which, in addition to significant noise, also harms the device itself. For its proper installation, do not use various linings and supports. It will be enough to level the level by unscrewing the legs. After that, the device is checked for stability. To do this, click on the machine and if it staggers, then tighten the legs again.

Safety

After you have connected the drain of the washing machine and the water supply, you need to provide its power supply with an increased degree of safety. Typically, these household units have a power of 2-2.5 kW and, accordingly, the cross section of the wires must be selected for these parameters. In general, modern washing machines already have the highest class of protection against electric shock, so you need to try hard so that the user receives an electric shock. Even if the machine is installed in a bathroom where there is always high humidity, the degree of protection of modern technology will allow you to work with a minimum possibility of receiving an electric shock.

Basic requirements for correct connection

Connecting the washing machine to the network should occur according to the following scheme.

  1. The electrical panel is grounded using a bus, the cross section of which must be at least 3 mm.
  2. When connecting, you must use three-wire sockets that have a phase, zero and ground wire.
  3. The ground wire must be insulated.

You can clearly see the correct connection in the diagram below.

Scheme No. 2

The main signs of a correct connection

So that you do not have to constantly look under the sink and check for leaks, you must make sure that the device is connected correctly. The main signs of a correct connection:

  1. No leaks.
  2. Relatively fast tank filling.
  3. Drum rotation.
  4. Water heating should occur within 6-7 minutes after water intake.
  5. Absence of extraneous sounds.
  6. High-quality work of draining and spinning.

If all these requirements are met, then the washing machine is connected correctly, and you can safely operate it for a long time. You can watch the video instruction for connecting washing machines below.

How to install a washing machine with your own hands.

Today I urgently needed knowledge about installing a program-controlled washing machine. Found a great article online. The author talks in detail and clearly about such difficult things for beginners. I read it with pleasure, now I will make sure that the installation is successful, in accordance with the points outlined from the experience of knowledgeable people. Thank you for the article!

This article will answer all questions regarding self-installation of a washing machine. After reading it, you will learn: how to choose and prepare a place for installation, how to connect it to the water supply, sewerage and electricity, how to maintain a guarantee, as well as a lot of useful tips from professionals.

The desire to save money on installing a washing machine is quite natural, because buying it is already expensive. And the prices for this service, which are called by sellers in stores - about 1000 rubles - do not quite correspond to reality. As a rule, the price does not include the cost of materials, electrical work and laying of additional pipes. If all communications near the installation site are already available, then the indicated amount may be enough, but if not, it’s good if you manage to meet 5-6 thousand.

Installing a washing machine with your own hands is not so difficult. The necessary tool for this is usually available in every house or can be borrowed from neighbors. However, you need to have certain skills in working with electrical networks and plumbing. If there are none or you are not confident in your abilities, then it is better to turn to specialists: the consequences of an unqualified installation are often deplorable, not to mention the danger of electric shock. Those who know how to handle keys and a screwdriver are advised to read this article to the end: there are nuances in connecting a washing machine that are important to know about in advance.

Where to install a washing machine

The most logical place to install a washing machine is the bathroom. But the problem is that in most of our bathrooms there is an acute shortage of free space. In this case, you can install the machine under a special sink. Such washbasins are characterized by a flat bottom surface, a rectangular shape and are equipped with special drains. There are washing machines specifically designed for this installation, but the regular model will do. The main thing is that its dimensions do not exceed 70 cm in height and 45 cm in depth. It is also necessary to observe two basic rules: firstly, the sink must protrude several centimeters beyond the dimensions of the machine; secondly, it is impossible for the drain tube to pass over the machine. These rules must be observed to prevent water from entering the housing and subsequent short circuit.

When the described option is not suitable, you can refuse the bath, replacing it with a shower. The freed up space, as a rule, is quite enough if the cabin width does not exceed 80 cm.

Often washing machines are installed in the kitchen. For this, built-in models with two doors are more suitable - a transparent inner and an opaque outer. However, you can install such a machine separately, or integrate ordinary kitchen furniture that is suitable in size. The main thing is not to confuse the order of work: first install the washer, and then assemble furniture around it. At the same time, a gap of 1.5-2 cm should remain between the walls and the body. It is also desirable to provide a removable tabletop - this will make it easy to remove the machine for repair.

We carefully read the instructions

Even if you already have experience installing washing machines, you should read the technical manual before starting work. The fact is that some points may differ for different models. First of all, this concerns the height of the top point of the drain, the maximum size of the hose extension and whether the machine is connected to a hot or cold water supply. The number and location of transport bolts also varies, and this should not be forgotten.

Preparing for installation

The washing machine can be installed on any floor, as long as it is sufficiently even and durable. Installation on a shaky wooden floor is not allowed, as this will increase the already significant vibrations that occur during washing. Therefore, if necessary, the floors need to be strengthened and leveled.

To protect the drum of the washing machine from damage during transportation, it is fixed at the factory with special bolts. When starting installation, they must be removed and the holes closed with plugs (they are supplied in the kit). In no case do not lose or throw away the bolts: you cannot transport the car without them, and then it will not be possible to return it to the store, deliver it to a service center or sell it.

The next thing to do at this stage is to screw on the inlet hose, since it will be difficult to do this later. On this preparation for installation can be considered finished.

alignment

In order for all the mechanisms of the washing machine to function without problems, it must be level. Deviation is allowed no more than 2 ° in any direction. If this value is exceeded, incorrect operation of the automation is possible and increased vibration is guaranteed, which can lead to breakdown. In addition, the body of the machine must not come into contact with walls and surrounding objects.

The machine is leveled by adjusting the legs, and the accuracy is checked using a level. This tool can be made independently from a pharmaceutical vial by filling it with water and making two transverse marks with a marker at a distance of 5 mm from the center. The accuracy of a homemade level, as well as a purchased one, is determined simply: put it on a flat surface, remember the position of the air bubble, and then turn it 180 °. If the readings are the same in both cases, the level can be used.

Adjusted feet must be locked to eliminate wobble. Putting something under them is undesirable, since these objects can move and slip out of vibration. However, if the floor still turned out to be too crooked, and the screws were not long enough, you can use plates made of durable material by attaching them to the floor with self-tapping screws or glue. In this case, the edges of the plates should protrude beyond the base of the legs by at least a centimeter.

Water connection

A flexible hose is included for this purpose. It is impossible to connect the washing machine directly to the pipes, whatever they may be. Before starting work, do not forget to turn off the tap in the desired section of the wiring.

The easiest way to connect is to install a faucet between the pipe and the faucet or toilet hose. This method is resorted to when the machine is installed in the kitchen or in a combined bathroom. If this option is not suitable, you will have to crash into a pipe. The complexity of this task depends on the material of the water supply. With metal-plastic, everything is simple: you can cut it with a hacksaw blade, and to put a tee, you need a pair of suitable keys. The procedure is as follows: a nut is put on the pipe, then a collet, after which the fitting fitting is inserted into it until it stops. This must be done carefully so as not to tear or move the rubber rings. We do the same manipulations at the end of the other pipe and tighten the nuts. It is not necessary to apply great efforts, trying to tighten as tight as possible: these nuts burst easily. So when they go hard and jerky - do another half-turn and that's enough.

For tapping into a steel pipe, a saddle with a threaded outlet is usually used. The place of its installation must be carefully cleaned, and then a hole with a diameter of 8-10 mm should be drilled. Aligning the hole in the pipe with the outlet of the saddle, we connect both parts with bolts. It remains to pack the thread with winding and screw on the tap or fitting. The described method is also great for plastic pipes.

Among other things, you will need to install a strainer to prevent large pieces of rust and other debris from entering the washing machine. It is best to screw it at the entrance to the apartment, but it is possible in another place, as long as water enters the car through it. And since the filter will have to be cleaned from time to time, access to it should be relatively free.

If the length of the complete hose is not enough - you should not increase it, it is better to make the eyeliner with metal-plastic. In addition, the washing machine must be powered through a separate tap, which must be closed during downtime. Neglect of this rule is fraught with an unexpected flood: no matter how reliable the intake valve is, it has every right to break.

Sewer connection

The easiest option is to insert an oblique tee into the outlet under the sink, and then connect the siphon and drain of the washing machine to it. To do this, you will also need a sealing cuff into which the hose is inserted to a depth of 5 cm, no more.

Another way is to install a special siphon with a tap under the sink. This option is more expensive, but it guarantees the absence of sewerage: the water seal will not let it through. The disadvantage of this scheme is that the siphon tends to become clogged, and then the water from the sink will flow into the washing machine. So pay attention to the check valve in its design. This is a mechanism that allows water to flow in only one direction. The valve must be cleaned periodically, otherwise it may jam.

A short hose can be extended by docking with an extension using a rubber tip and a double-sided fitting. For greater reliability, it is advisable to lubricate the connections with silicone or grab them with clamps. If the capacity of the sewerage system leaves much to be desired, and the discharge of a large volume of water is accompanied by a breakdown of the water seals, this can lead to the suction of water from the washing machine and its self-draining. For example, when you drain the water from the bath. In this case, it is better to use an anti-siphon valve instead of a fitting.

The footage of the additional hose should not exceed the size specified in the instructions. Increasing its length will increase the load on the pump, which can disable it. It is necessary either to install the machine closer to the sewer, or to bring a pipe to it. Another important point is the top drain point. Any section of the hose must be secured at the manufacturer's recommended height. As a rule, this is 60-100 cm. Exceeding this limit will complicate the operation of the pump, and a decrease will lead to self-draining.

If the sewer is regularly clogged, then it is better not to connect a washing machine to it. In this case, the drain is made into the toilet, bathtub or sink - whichever is closer. In this case, the hose is fixed in the desired position using the guide, which is included in the kit.

Electrical connection

The washing machine is powered from a separate electrical wiring line through a 16 A machine. A core cross section of 1.5 mm 2 is quite enough, but it is better to take 2.5. It is advisable to use copper wires: they are not as brittle as aluminum, oxidize less and withstand a greater load with the same diameter.

If the apartment is under renovation, it is better to make the wiring hidden. Ideally, you will need a grinder and a puncher for this, but you can get by with one puncher. Make a strobe about 3 cm deep in the wall and at a distance of 10-15 cm from the ceiling. Then lay the wire in it, securing it with dowel-clamps so that it does not fall out. After that, the strobe must be covered. In a renovated apartment, this option will not work. So that the wires do not spoil the interior, you can lay them under the very ceiling and close them with a plinth, and bring them to the outlet in the cable channel.

The most responsible and risky stage is the installation of the machine and the connection to the shield in the entrance. The golden rule of safety in electrical work - do not interfere if you do not know - it is better not to break it, because the price of one awkward movement can be your life. In the absence of technical training, it is better not to take risks, lay the wire to the shield, and entrust its connection to specialists. It is possible to perform such work only when there is certain knowledge and experience.

First of all, turn off the packet from which your apartment is powered. Screw the din rail into the free place and put the machine on it. Then carefully insert the wire into the shield, strip the ends and connect, following the traditional order: the yellow core with a green stripe to ground, the blue one to zero. The third core, intended for the phase, comes in different colors, most often brown. It must be connected to the lower terminal of the machine, and to the upper one, connect the phase from the bag using a jumper. To prevent the wire from dangling, carefully grab it with a tie to the nearest bundle.

Unfortunately, there is not always grounding in the shields. In this case, it makes sense to connect the machine to the RCD. In this case, polarity must be strictly observed: the phase wire is connected to the linear clamp, and the neutral wire to the neutral one. In the presence of grounding, the RCD will also not hurt, since it works best on the third wire. So in the event of a breakdown on the body, the protection will work even before someone touches the faulty machine.

Please read the terms and conditions of the warranty carefully before attempting any work yourself. It happens that the manufacturer insists on installing the machine only by an authorized service. In this case, you will have to go there and turn, otherwise the guarantee will be lost. If only the wrong installation is stipulated, feel free to get to work. Of course, everything must be done in strict accordance with the instructions, since even minor deviations will void the warranty. For example, exceeding the maximum allowable length of the drain hose, poor alignment, or connection to a machine with a higher rating.

In the event of a breakdown, the service center specialist draws up an act on the state of the machine, which also indicates all installation and connection errors. In this case, the owner has the right to express disagreement with some or even all of the points. It is necessary to state all comments in the act with reason and put a signature under them. If you are sure that you did everything right - defend your rights.

A washing machine, especially an automatic one, is an absolutely necessary thing in the household. You just need to load the laundry and add detergent - and then the smart device will do everything on its own.

In order for the machine to work for a long time and reliably, it is necessary to provide it with all the necessary conditions. Therefore, the moment of installation is very important. Proper connection will ensure high quality washing and trouble-free operation.

You need to think about where and how to park the car even before buying. Its dimensions, power, type of construction are determined not only by the wishes of the owners, but also by the availability of opportunities in the apartment.

Prerequisites for installation

The easiest way is to install the washing unit near the points of connection to water and electricity. In this case, there will be no problems with lengthening hoses and electrical cables.

The aesthetic component and ease of use should not be ignored either. For small apartments, the question arises whether the equipment will fit in the place intended for it.

Choose a place: in the bathroom or in the kitchen

Most washing machines find their home in the bathroom. This is the most logical choice of location, since water pipes and sewers are usually located there. In addition, household appliances will be hidden from prying eyes.

If there is not enough space in the bathroom, you can consider connecting in the kitchen or even in the hallway.

What you need to pay attention to:

  • The floor must withstand vibration.
  • You may have to lay communications over a remote distance.
  • When measuring distances, possible unevenness of the walls must be taken into account. Just in case, the nominal dimensions of the machine should be at least one centimeter smaller than the available space.

Water connection

Machine washing, like any other, requires water in the first place. The following requirements are imposed on the water supply system: the pressure in the pipes must be sufficient, and the water must be clean. If these conditions are not met, you can put a pressure boosting pump and filter the water.

A separate tap must be built into the pipeline to shut off the water supply to the machine. This greatly reduces the chance of leakage.

Power supply

The washing machine has a lot of power. Therefore, the electrical cables and sockets available in old apartments are usually not suitable for it.

Floor quality

Serious requirements are placed on the device floor. First of all, it must be firm and strictly horizontal, without obvious irregularities. In addition, the coating will have to withstand vibration from a rotating drum.

If the floor in the apartment does not meet these conditions, it must be strengthened at the installation site of the equipment.

Positive air temperature

In the conditions of the apartment, the washing machine is always warm. However, in a country private house or a technical room, a long-term shutdown of heating is possible. This is completely unacceptable! There is always water left inside the washing machine after washing. In frost, it will inevitably freeze and break the hoses or even the pump.

Installation sequence

A new machine delivered from the store must first be freed from packaging and shipping fasteners. Then it is connected to all the required communications and the height of the legs is adjusted. After that, the unit is ready for the first wash.

Removing the shipping lock

During transportation, moving parts are fixed to avoid damage. If you do not remove these fasteners (bolts, brackets, bars), then when you turn on the mechanism, it will inevitably fail. Necessary:

  • unscrew the bolts;
  • remove the plastic spacers;
  • take out the staples.

In place of the bolts, decorative plugs are inserted that come with the machine.

Water connection

Cold water is supplied through a flexible hose, which is included in the delivery. It is not recommended to make a completely rigid connection, since vibration will be transmitted through it to the pipe system and gradually destroy them.

The hose is connected to the water supply through a specially embedded pipe or tee. Usually it is equipped with a mesh filter to purify water from coarse contaminants. On the machine side, the connection is made via a standard screw connection.

Draining

The easiest way to organize a drain is to dip the end of the drain hose into a tub or sink. But this is more of a temporary solution.

Most often, waste water is drained through a special splitter directly into the siphon under the sink. The length of the hose must be sufficient to form a loop hanging down. There is always water in its fold, which prevents sewer odors from entering the car.

Leg adjustment

The drum of the machine must rotate smoothly and without distortion. To do this, it is necessary that its upper plane is located strictly horizontally. This can be checked using the building level. If the deviation exceeds 2°, use the machine feet adjustment. All modern models have threaded settings.

Do not put pieces of wood or pieces of linoleum under the legs. They may pop out during washing.

Power supply

The best solution is to connect the machine to the shield using a separate three-wire cable, on which the circuit breaker is installed. An RCD device is used to protect against a short circuit to the case.

The socket must necessarily be grounded and mounted at a certain height from the floor level so that water does not get into it during leakage. In the kitchen, these requirements are met by a socket for an electric stove.

Video instruction on how to install a washing machine yourself

Features of installation in various conditions

When installing the machine, it is necessary to think over the conditions and mode of operation in advance. In accordance with this, you can take measures in advance that will help to avoid problems in the future.

In a private house

During the construction or repair of a private house, it is possible to create the necessary scheme for piping and electrical cables even at the design stage. If there is a dry basement in the house, washing and drying equipment is often installed there. In this case, the residents are not disturbed by noise, smells and dampness.

In the kitchen and hallway

The washing machine fits easily into the interior of the kitchen, although the washing process itself does not go well with cooking and eating.

In the corridor, it should be installed only as a last resort.

In doing so, many questions will need to be addressed:

  • where to find a place so that the car does not interfere with walking and opening doors;
  • how to hide laid communications (on the floor, walls);
  • how to hide appliances from the eyes of guests (built-in closet, curtain).

On wood or laminate flooring

The ideal hard and hard floor for installation is concrete. On wooden floors, the vibration of the machine increases and has a destructive effect on the unit itself and surrounding objects.

There are various options for strengthening the floor:

  • concrete a small foundation;
  • arrange a solid podium based on steel pipes;
  • at least put an anti-vibration mat.

None of these methods will compare to a full-fledged concrete screed, but to some extent the unpleasant vibration will be reduced.

Embedded machine installation

Built-in appliances fit perfectly into any interior. Its wires and hoses are hidden behind cabinets, and the front door is fully consistent with the rest of the headset. At the same time, such equipment is more expensive than stand-alone and its choice is not so great.

Therefore, the question often arises, is it possible to build in a conventional automatic machine? It is possible, and moreover, in various ways:

  • just hide under the countertop;
  • install a compact model in a finished kitchen cabinet;
  • make a suitable cabinet yourself, with or without a door.

It is necessary to pay attention to the hardness of the base so that the vibration is not transmitted to neighboring cabinets.

Installing a washing machine over a toilet

Considering the small size of most toilets, the idea of building a washing machine in there seems strange. But some enthusiasts manage to carry out this adventure.

Of course, you should pay attention to safety measures so that the unit does not fall on your head at a crucial moment.

  • Wall quality. If the walls are fragile, it is necessary to make a steel structure supported by the floor.
  • Sturdy hanging shelf. It is made from a solid metal profile.
  • A safety edge so that the machine does not slip off the shelf from vibration.
  • Retractable shelf to prevent laundry from falling into the toilet.
  • The mounting height should leave access to the toilet flush button.

It is better to place the car behind the toilet, and not directly above it. At the same time, it is logical to choose a model with a minimum depth. And remember that for repairs, heavy equipment will have to be removed from the shelf, and then put back again.

Why the car "jumps" and how to deal with it

Increased vibration is typical for newly installed machines. But sometimes the time-tested technique begins to bounce or even move around the floor. It is necessary to determine the reasons for this behavior of the machine until it is completely out of order.

The following options are possible:

  • Fasteners - bolts, brackets - were not removed before installation.
  • The floor is not even enough, the machine wobbles.
  • On the contrary, the floor is too smooth and slippery, then you can put a rubber mat on it.

The most easily eliminated problem is that the damp laundry has curled up inside the drum into a single lump. The operation of the machine must be stopped, hands distribute the laundry inside it and continue spinning.

There are also factors that are of a technical nature. Only a specialist repairer can identify and eliminate them:

  • Shock absorbers are out of order.
  • The springs on which the tank is attached are worn out.
  • The counterweight mounts are loose.
  • The bearing has collapsed.

All these reasons are subject to immediate elimination, the operation of the machine with such defects will inevitably lead to its breakdown.

The quality of the installation of the washing machine depends not only on the connection of the equipment itself, but also on the choice of installation location. Correctly assessing the situation, taking advantage of its benefits and compensating for the negative aspects is quite realistic for any person. If there are communications, the installation process itself does not take much time. At the end of it, you need to carry out a test run - washing in an empty machine without linen. If no extraneous noise is detected, the machine can be used.

After purchasing a washing machine, most buyers do not take the issue of installing such equipment too seriously. The process of installing and connecting washing machines includes several stages. You can install according to the instructions for the washing machine. But do not forget that non-compliance or violation of at least one of the stages threatens both a quick breakdown of equipment and the danger associated with electricity or flooding the entire apartment.

What should be done before connecting the washing machine?

The instruction for any washing machine puts forward the main requirement for the electrical network - there must be grounding. This applies to both self-installation and the work of the wizard. After all, if washing machine connected to an ungrounded mains, warranty repairs are excluded. Even if you are installing non-new equipment, this condition is mandatory.

We install and connect the washing machine for 650 rubles.

One of the reasons to take care of grounding is the high risk of injury from electric shock in its absence. Also, the electronics of the equipment can fail even from a slight influence of static. This is an absolutely unjustified risk, threatening with huge costs for the repair of equipment or even for the purchase of new equipment. The operation of a washing machine is associated with the proximity of absolutely incompatible "phenomena" - water and electricity. Therefore, it is important to protect both yourself and your equipment.

How to connect a washing machine?

Before you buy a washing machine, you should choose a place where you want to put it. The standard is considered to be installation in the bathroom, but more and more equipment is placed in the kitchen. Usually such a choice is made for reasons of saving free space. In old houses, bathrooms are too small, and it is much easier to find free space in the kitchen. At the same time, communication is not difficult to stretch.

Usually renovations in the bathroom, and sometimes in the kitchen, include the installation of a washing machine. These are, so to speak, typical places for the location of this device in standard apartments. Although, ideally, the place for a washing machine is somewhere in the basement, if its owner is the owner of a large house with a well-equipped basement. But this is not the point, but the question: “how to properly install a washing machine?”

The main task when installing a washing machine is to achieve the maximum allowable absence of any vibrations during its operation. This will guarantee its long service life, the absence of unpleasant noises and the elimination of possible displacement from the installation site. Among other things, the manufacturer requires the correct installation from the consumer; these requirements are set out in the operating instructions for the washing machine.

Of course, a lot will depend on the washing machine itself, on the quality of its assembly, on the manufacturer, on its device. It is worth noting that when properly installed, direct drive washing machines vibrate much less during operation than non-direct drive washing machines, which are also installed in accordance with all the rules. In a nutshell, direct drive (see Direct Drive) is such a device of washing machine mechanisms in which the machine drum is driven directly by the motor shaft without all kinds of transmission links, such as, for example, a belt drive. "Extra" knots add extra vibrations. But many manufacturers today have learned to solve the problems associated with the indirect drive device, minimizing the impact of this factor as much as possible. In addition to the drive device, top-loading washers can be structurally classified as less vibrating machines. In top-loading washing machines, unlike the more common side-loading machines, the washing drum has an additional hinge point, which significantly reduces vibrations when the drum rotates.

From the design factor, let's move on to the correct installation factor.

The first thing to do is get rid of the shipping bolts. Do not turn on the washing machine without removing these bolts. The fact is that the entire movable mechanism of the washing machine: the engine, the drive, the drum, is located in the housing on special shock-absorbing springs, that is, it is suspended there. In addition, all these moving parts are placed in a special concrete block, which is necessary to dampen vibrations due to its large mass and some inertia. In order not to shake all this contents during transportation, transport bolts are used that connect all this suspended stuffing to the body. And if these bolts are not unscrewed before starting the washing machine, then there will be no depreciation and the washing machine body may shatter into the trash. And even if nothing terrible happens, the vibrations will be just crazy. After dismantling, special plastic plugs are usually installed in place of the transport bolts.

Next, you need to set the washing machine strictly on a horizontal level. You don’t have to check the vertical level, as you yourself understand that there should be a right angle between the top cover and the side wall of the washing machine body.

In order to level the washing machine, its design provides twisting legs with which you can adjust its position. But do not count on the fact that with the help of these magic legs it will be possible to compensate for any unevenness in the floor. The maximum twisted leg will be able to give out no more than one centimeter to compensate for irregularities. So, first you need to screw the legs to the position of their smallest height and measure the degree of deviation with a level. Next, set the required length of one of the rear legs so that the edge of the cover closest to the wall becomes horizontal. You need to start with the hind legs, as it is more difficult to get close to them. After that, unscrew the front legs so that a horizontal level appears along the side edges of the top cover of the washing machine. Then check the level diagonally. Perhaps the adjustment will be made in a different sequence, it all depends on the slope of the unevenness of the floor. Now it remains to check the stability of the machine by shaking it in different directions. It must be stable on all four legs. If any of the legs does not reach the floor level, it is necessary to tighten it and again check the level of the top cover and the stability on all four legs.

(checking the horizontal level of the top cover of the washing machine)

After the machine is leveled, its stability is checked, it is imperative to tighten the lock nuts on the adjusting legs. If this is not done, then after several cycles of operation of the washer, all adjustments will go down the drain and vibrations will be guaranteed.

(at the end of the adjustment, be sure to tighten the locknuts on all legs)

Important when installing a washing machine is the quality of the floor at the installation site. The floor must be solid and durable, preferably concrete. A wooden floor or any other floor that may increase vibrations is not allowed. The floor covering must not be too slippery. Under the legs of the installed washing machine, it is not allowed to place any rugs and pads, except for those that are specifically designed to reduce floor slip. The installation site of the washing machine must be thought out in advance, not only in terms of supplying all the necessary communications: electricity, water intake, drain, but also in terms of flooring and its coating. Ideally, the floor surface under the washing machine should be flat, strictly horizontal. But, perhaps, a slight (almost minimal) slope from the wall behind the back of the machine to the center of the room should be provided, in case the washing machine breaks down with a water leak. The slope is necessary so that the water flows out from under it by gravity and does not accumulate against the wall. Perhaps, for the same purpose, a special ladder should be provided next to the washing machine to drain a large amount of water.

You should also leave a gap of one or two centimeters between all the walls of the washing machine and the adjacent walls of the room, plumbing, and furniture. If the washing machine is built into furniture, then there must be sufficient clearance above the top cover.

As noted at the very beginning, it just so happened that usually a washing machine is installed either in the bathroom or in the kitchen. Therefore, very often the coating on which the washing machine will stand is a tile. It is desirable that this tile is not too slippery, otherwise the machine may eventually leave its place. (There are times when the washer even reaches the middle of the room.) If the tile still turned out to be slippery enough and the machine still strives to go for a walk, do not be sad, and some solutions are provided for this case. Firstly, a good manufacturer not only has the legs of the washing machine with a rubberized coating, but also in the kit there are a couple of special stickers with a rough finish. These self-adhesives are glued in those places where the front pair of legs will stand, and this will significantly increase the stability of the machine. You can make similar stickers yourself by cutting them out of sandpaper and gluing them on the tile with an abrasive up using Moment-type rubber glue. Secondly, in household appliances stores, in the department with washing machines, you can often find special rubber shoes on which the legs of the machine will be installed. There are four of them in a set. These shoes not only compensate for the slippery floor factor, but also to some extent reduce the level of vibrations. The only thing to consider if the washing machine is installed inside furniture is that these shoes add about a centimeter of height to the washer.

Connecting a washing machine with your own hands should begin by studying the instructions for it. If any errors are made in this process, this may lead to the inoperability of the device. Since a washing machine is an expensive thing, everything must be done carefully and according to the rules. This will ensure its reliable operation and long service life.

Place for installation

When answering the question of where it is better to install a washing machine, one should be guided by the obvious fact - the place should be near water pipes so that water can flow in and out easily. Bath, kitchen or hallway are traditional places to install a washing machine. The right room should be chosen based on the space available there.

Preparing for installation

Before you install the washing machine, you must unpack it and remove the shipping bolts and fasteners. These elements are used to ensure that the moving parts of the machine do not dangle from side to side during transportation.

If you forget to remove the transport fasteners and turn on the machine, it will soon fail. And the manufacturer's warranty will no longer apply.

Holes from fasteners are closed with social plastic plugs.

Be sure to remove the transport bolts before installation.

Sewer connection

The next step in the instructions for installing the washing machine is to connect to the sewer. This is necessary in order to drain water from it.

Depending on the design, draining can be done in different ways. The easiest option is to pour the water directly into the tub or kitchen sink. To do this, washing machines are equipped with a special hook on the hose, which is attached to the side of the bathtub or sink.

A more convenient way is to connect the drain to the siphon of the bath or sink. This will require a special outlet. Or you can organize a drain from the washing machine directly into the sewer.

If the washing machine is drained into the sewer, it is necessary to create a bend for the water seal (as the siphon bends), otherwise unpleasant odors will enter the tank. The bend should be lower than the tank of the machine. Therefore, sometimes you have to put it on stands or shelves.

Water connection

Before you install the washing machine, you should purchase tees that are used to supply water. Sometimes both hot and cold water is supplied, so two tees are needed. In addition, you will need valves to shut off the water when the machine is not in use.

To extend the life of the washing machine, when installing it, it is necessary to install filters in the water supply system that will protect the tank from contamination.

alignment

Then the washing machine is leveled. Since the floors in the house can be uneven, you need to level the machine using the rotating legs.

If the installation of the washing machine is uneven, it will vibrate, which will create unnecessary noise, as well as lead to wear of parts.

After installing the washing machine, it should not tilt under pressure on each of its four corners.

Checking the correct installation

The washing machine has been installed correctly if:

  • The tank is filled and emptied not too long;
  • No leaks;
  • The drum rotates without excessive noise;
  • Water heats up 5-7 minutes after it stops flowing.

Almost everyone who uses a washing machine is aware of its habit of jumping up and down from its seat during the spin cycle. This article will discuss the causes of the phenomenon and methods for their prevention.

Let's look at the reasons first. They can be divided into two groups:

  • factors causing vibration of the washing machine;
  • factors that allow a vibrating machine to move across the floor.

Why is the washing machine jumping?

The first cause of strong machine vibrations can be non-dismantled transport bolts. They securely fix the washing machine tank inside the body so as not to damage it during transport. Before starting work, bolts and other fixing elements must be removed. It is strictly forbidden to operate the car with them.

The next cause of washing machine vibration is uneven distribution of things in the tank. If you start the car with an empty tank, it will not vibrate. The same thing will happen if you distribute things perfectly evenly - in an even layer around the entire circumference of the tank. In reality, such a distribution cannot be achieved, even evenly distributed at the beginning, they are mixed during the washing process.

Malfunction of the tank suspension and thrust bearings. Loose counterweight.

The purpose of the system of springs, dampers and a counterweight is to make the natural frequency of the tank much lower than the frequency of its rotation. This reduces the amplitude of oscillations and the magnitude of vibrations transmitted to the machine body.

To better understand the contents of the previous paragraph, remember: at the beginning of the spin cycle, the body of the loaded machine sways more strongly, and then with an increase in the rotation speed of the tank, the sway turns into a small tremor or, with the correct distribution of the laundry, practically disappears.

Rock the tank - after that it should make no more than one oscillation and stop. Otherwise, the shock absorbers are faulty, they must be replaced.

Open the casing of the machine, inspect the elastic elements - metal should not have deformations, rubber - tears and cracks. Defective parts - for replacement! Check the counterweight mounting - if loose, tighten the nuts.

Bad bearings. When the machine is running, there should be no creaks or knocks. Turn the tank by hand, shake it from side to side. If you find a creak or beating, replace the defective parts.

Proper installation of the washing machine

First requirement for installation - a horizontal floor. When not level, the vibrating machine will slide in the direction of the slope. If the floor is not ideal, you need to build some kind of podium that creates a horizontal surface for the car. At the same time, he himself should not slide on the floor surface.

Second requirement- the horizontality of the machine itself. Or verticality. It depends on what is chosen as a criterion: the upper plane must be strictly horizontal, any side edge must be vertical.

Why is this needed? With the most careful distribution of things, they will move during the washing process and create a beating when the tank rotates quickly. In an unevenly standing machine, the runouts will deviate from the calculated ones and, as a result of an uneven load on the supports, can cause displacement.

Is the impact of the deviation significant? It is better not to analyze, but simply to put the car on the level. It's not such a complicated operation.

How to level a car? What is needed to adjust?

Before starting work, prepare a level about 1 meter long. No longer needed. If there is no such long one, we will take what is. But keep in mind that the shorter the level, the less accurate.

You will also need two open end wrenches. The size must match the adjusting nuts on the feet of the machine.

Step-by-step instructions for installing a washing machine

Checking the levelness of the platform on which the device will stand. Actually, the horizontality of not the entire site is important, but the plane passing through the patches on which the legs of the machine will rest.

With a level, we check the horizontalness of the site along both diagonals. If horizontality is observed here, we check along two adjacent sides. If everything is in order here, we put the car with its legs on the checked sites. If the floor is not horizontal in any direction, we put stands on low places, achieving horizontality in all directions.

Stands can be made from any flat and hard material. It is recommended to stick a thin sheet of rubber on the side in contact with the floor. His appointment will be discussed below.

Now we put the washing machine on the platform or on stands. By adjusting the height of the legs, we achieve the horizontality of the upper surface. We check the correctness of the vertical installation of the side ribs.

If everything is fine, we tighten the locknuts on the adjusting screws of the legs and once again check if the verticality-horizontality has not been violated during locking.

Now try to shake the car left and right and diagonally. If it does not sway - not almost, but does not sway at all - it means that the machine is set correctly.

But there is one more nuance. As already noted, it is almost impossible to completely eliminate vibrations, so there is always the possibility that the washing machine will leave its rightful place.

Do you remember that rubber sheet was glued to the footrests? This is so that with small vibrations they do not slip on the floor and prevent the car from moving.

Find a rectangular sheet of rubber 1–1.5 cm thick, and about 5 cm larger than the size of the car. The hardness should be such that the legs crush it by about half the thickness. Put it on a horizontal surface under the car, and the probability of leaving will be reduced to zero.

Tips for operating the machine to reduce vibration.

Do not overload the machine. The suspension system is designed to work with a certain load. Exceeding will lead to excessive vibrations, and in the long term to premature failure of nodes.

Before starting, distribute the items evenly around the circumference of the drum. There are machines that can do this on their own, but still help them - artificial intelligence is not yet so smart.

If your machine is a top-loading machine, you can hold something heavy on it, such as a laundry basket. This will increase vibration resistance.

Place the machine at least 5 cm away from the walls so that in case of emergency it does not damage them and itself.

Conclusion

At the end, we briefly list what was said in the article:

  • Do not forget Remove shipping bolts;
  • The car must be on horizontal surfaces;
  • The car must be strictly vertically;
  • Place a rubber mat under the legs;
  • Evenly distribute things around the circumference of the drum;
  • Don't overload car;
  • Provide a gap between the wall and the machine at least 5 cm;
  • Attention! Never use a damaged machine. If an elastic element breaks on the go or a bearing shatters, the breakdown can reach such proportions that the extra washed shirt turns out to be gold.
